How do people organise their pants?
I have a drawer full of pants and they've been in neat piles for quite some time but because I hid my drugs in my clothes drawers, most of those drawers have been subject to sudden "where's the fucking drugs" scrambles and now my pants drawer is in disarray.
I'm now trying to restore order, but in the process I've realised I didn't really have order before. I don't know what I did but I did maintain little piles, kind of based on type of pant, but not very strictly.
But now I'm thinking it would probably be best if the system ensured a rotation of pants to achieve equal wear (as in wear and tear, but also wear as in on the hips). But then again, that's probably a bad idea because if all the pants were worn at an equal rate, they would all need replaced suddenly and this would be a bit of a crisis, preferably avoided.
The same question can apply to socks, although socks are slightly different because their design pays more attention to function; we have:
- ankle socks / trainer liners which can be worn with shorts
- office-type socks, for me these are typically a fairly thin but comfortable cotton sock of average length, preferably with some elastication, and I express my personality through coloured heel and toe areas, sometimes days of the week written on the sock.
- sport socks - for cycling, running, dancing
- walking socks - thick woollen things which cushion the feet and keep them warm in the snow
So socks are more diverse in function than pants, so therefore easier to organise in the sock drawer. What criteria can I bring to bear upon pant drawer organisation?
Maybe this is a question for "Second Opinion".
