as long as there is a constructive element and advancement of understanding as an undertone, discussion on any of these matters is relevant & ultimately healthy to those taking part (as well as those lurking and reading)

Yes, I agree. There is definitely a difference to an abusive post with no desire to engage in a dialogue, and a discussion which might have aspects someone could view as abusive (or unpleasant, or unnecessary, or whatever word you want to use) but that is ultimately constructive (in any way, really). But at the same time there is a line that can be crossed, in my view, and I want to keep discussion the right side of that line.

I don't like there being a constant difficult atmosphere and fighting, but that is just my temperament - others enjoy engaging in discussions like that a lot more. There are very oversenstive people and extremely thick skinned people. EADD community has to embrace them all and that's the tricky thing from my perspective - getting the balance between not intervening and not letting things get too out of hand. I appreciate that there will be people thinking I am too heavy handed and people thinking I am too light handed (is that a phrase? :D) but that's okay, and I do really enjoy discussing things like this actually - I think it's really important that we as a community do raise issues around how the community functions, and that people feel they can question my/our modding decisions. Makes a change from talking about how wrecked we all are anyway :)

You could be forgiven for the first time, because it wasn't intentional. That time it was on purpose, hence why you said his name next to it. It would have gone unnoticed if you hadn't have done that to provoke a reaction.

I obviously know that it is a well used phrase, and I also accept that the forum is hardly going to go out of it's way to pander to the fact it might upset rockstar. But I wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't used as a deliberate attempt to goad him - as SHM seems to do to RS at every possible opportunity.

I think its healthy for people to have it out if theres an issue. It does my head in when several other people have to jump into a heated discussion though. Its a bit bullying.

I can only discuss something with you if you actually take on board the information presented and don't ignore it

and we're straying into that territory. so I'm almost about to switch off. I'm telling you that so you can understand where I'm coming from a little better and for no other reason.

There's no point in discussing this if you don't accept the basic principle that what SHM originally said ages ago re :Einstein, was just an unfortunate coincidence. if you accept that, then we can discuss the other references. if you don't accept that, ok, that's your view, but it makes continuing discussing any of the further references & subject totally pointless

All of what i just wrote is solely based on getting to the truth/reality of what occurred [edit] and what is occurring

Read the post above yours, I know full well the first time he used it it was an unintentional slight... he could have even gone on to keep saying it, if he didn't say rockstars name everytime he did so. We obviously aren't prohibited from saying it.

We don't all have to be friends, and RS and SHM seem to have an understanding over this goading enyway,,RS is a thick skinned wee bam.

EDIT>>>> I'm positive SHM wouldn't do this to someone more sensitive, he's no heartless soul, just a grumpy cunt, who likes to say how he feels.
 
Would just like to say that in general more than happy to leave these things be, as you say MM we don't all have to be friends and honesty is better than false niceness every time.. but if there is repeated abuse directed at one person which carries on despite being asked to chill, I will do as I did earlier and if it really gets out of hand warn/infract. I have explained my reasons so I won't again. I don't like doing it though and I do try not to.

If anyone feels they are being victimised, they are free to use the report button (abuse of report function will bring infractions though before you all get carried away and start reporting me :D) - as is very clear today, people have different views on what is offensive/upsetting and what isn't, and I'm clearly not going to get it right every time. I don't want to censor or intervene unnecessarily but I do want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable posting here.

Also anyone is welcome to ask me about any of my modding that they disagree with, here or via PM.
