Never did get that into playing games and before I knew it I had 2 kids who loved them, so never had the time to.

Bit cloudy out and definitely nippy, so hope this isn't the last of the weird spring...

Where's the Friday thread and what's everyone up to this weekend? First one to make a new thread wins a prize ;)

Morning Kate. Indeed, where in Friday's name is the Friday thread?

My mother was the opposite - she was fanatical about computer games. Taught me to appreciate them, and also hogged any computer / console we owned. Pity she was a psychotic, sadistic bitch, but that's another sob story altogether. :D

Time to get the slave clothes on and get into employee mode.
 
You know your hangover is bad when valium, paracetamol and mcdonalds hasn't even sorted you out. Ugh!
 
Tasted alright as well, when mixed with coke anyway. It's cheaper to buy a bottle of whiksy that it is to buy 2 big bottles of beer. Think I'll do it from now on.

Monkey Island is AWESOME! I loved a whole bunch of LucasArts point-and-click adventures: Full Throttle, Day of the tentacle. I'm sure there were more. They've never quite as good as you remember though!! Regarding PS1 emulation, that's fucking great now. Not tried PS2 emulation for a few years and it was a bit dodgy back then but should have come on now. Gonna give it a bash because a lot of my favourite games are for PS2 and mine died after being left in a room with overly hairy stoners for a few years :(

I've long since abandoned all hope of playing recent games on my PC. That goes for any PC I've ever owned. I throw together a new computer every few years, but it's never from state of the art components. Usually they just can't handle any recent games. I'd buy better hardware, but everything moves on so fast that it'd be obsolete again within 6 months. PS3 is where it's at for my recent-game needs. Though I haven't been impressed by anything for a while. Got Final Fantasy XIII-2 a bit ago and have to declare it to be wank!

Aw is FFXIII-2 that bad?! I heard FF13 was gash but having played a bit of it I kinda like it. I don't do much present-day PC gaming even though my PC can man most of it, pretty much stick to WoW, Diablo, Command and Conquer and then I've got a whole bunch of emulators. Gonna have to go get Full Throttle now, got half way through it a few years back then forgot all about it.

Get that Speccy emulator set up Shammy, I was gonna beg my Dad to let me have our Spectrum when I go home but I can't see him entrusting me with that somehow. Can't wait to get the MAME cabinet set up aye, am already busy dreaming up ideas of how to paint the thing and am ridiculously excited over the thought of building the PC it'll house.

So many words about computers, fkinell could bang on about it all day but I won't.

I'm drinking far too much, it's every fucking day. Usually at least 4 or 5 beers even on nights when having nothing planned.
 
Sounds familiar, Spadey. Things seem to be looking up on the droogy front though so hopefully be knocking the booziness on the head a bit now. Beer is all well and good but borderline alkydom is shite. It's a drink not a drug. But also very handily available in shops and that when other stuff is harder to come by.

Well, FF XIII was very linear as you know.... run to point on the map and watch a cutscene. However, it had a cool story, and it was easy because of the linear nature.

FF XIII-2 they've tried to go more 'open world' with it, more side quests, levelling areas and random other stuff to do. Which is more classic FF and should be good, but at the moment I'm finding it a bit all-over-the-place. It's not clear what you're meant to do next -- and the load times are absolutely horrific between zones. Though I've only been playing it for a few hours, I think figuring out what to do next will become clearer.

Yesss!!! Good plan!! It is goooood, I completed a couple of times when I was a kid, very enjoyable. "Mo!".

Aye, I've been drinking too much this week. Got into the swing of drinking again while I was away, then was so bored when I got back I just carried on drinking. I've a long and colourful history with booze, so will have to knock it on the head before it becomes a problem. BOREDOM is my main enemy.
