Random MSN Gibberings LXXXIX: Off my rocker babbling about nothing

I like ol' Michio but he does tend to be a tad starry-eyed about the "Age of Abundance" he's always banging on about. Definitely some amazing gadgets and gizmos ahead - and some truly amazing possibilities in the slightly longer term - but I suspect he's a tad optimistic about much of it. Watched a lecture of his on PooToob promoting that there book and whilst some of what he said made sense there did seem to be a fair bit of bollocks too. Not to mention his somewhat disturbing enthusiasm for horribly intrusive technology - toilets that analyse your pee and poo? Nanochips embedded in everything checking your DNA for you for whatever reason it was he thought it important? His future vision mostly seems to revolve around having micro or nanochips in everything in order to monitor your every word, whim and action and sell it to the highest bidder so they can try to sell you shit you don't want. Kinda like Facebook only lurking in your toilet bowl more often.

EDIT: Michio Kaku - The World in 2030 - for all your utodystopian toiletech needs.

can try to sell you shit you don't want.

But at which point these products should be so cheap that the need for "marketing" means we'll probably end up with nanobots using electro-convulsive therapy to alter out thoughts telling us what to buy.

The channel 4 "15 Million Merits" part of Black Mirror shows a chilling view/commentary on the state of consumerism and what it could become, reminds me of the farmville obsessives somewhat.

*doom n gloom* =D

It is totally sick what some scientists are working on now. By 2100 the world is going to be a strange place!

that book looks like something I'd enjoy a lot, just purchased it for the kindle (why did i not pirate it D'OH)

just checked the prices on 3D printers, at last my custom dildo while you wait service is now a financially viable option

Bit of a non sequitur really but while we're on books and technology I picked up Future Noir - The Making of Blade Runner- and it's one FUCK of a book for anyone who likes the film.

Edit: Watson, if you pirate the book then eventually the author will be forced to give live readings to supplement his income.

Edit 2: While people bellow that they want Chapter 14 and throw plastic cider bottles full of urine at him.

Yeah Watson if you did that alone eventually the poor guy will be on the street having to dance like a bear for small change, what are you thinking ??

The worst thing is that the bears collect up the coins and find that THEY were pirated too. That's where freetardation leads.

It's a really interesting read, cus it's based on actual science. It's done by that Japanese guy off of Horizon. He does tend to harp on about various sci-fi films throughout the book though. (I pirated it :P It came in a bundle of 1001 books)

Come to think of it those bears they sell on the market round here look a lil hooky. Always was a but suspicious of that "genuine Burberry" fur on 'em.

Apparently people have been downloading hacked templates via BearNova and printing them out on 3D printers purely to exploit their dancing abilities to raise the cash they need to buy genuine CDs and DVDs. Some people have no morals ;)

Bare rare care bears can't bear bare rare bear share scares so they bare bare care bear claws.

Evening all, mmm looks like lots of techno talk, but hope your all keeping well this evening:)

I'm keeping very well this eve, Bluebell. Tell us tales of your day please, preferably tales that would chill a man to the bone.
