i'm using arch linux (as tina turner would say. simply the best, better than all the rest) on one server, and OpenBSD on my production server. But I've got ubuntu 10.04 on a netbook i'm trying my best to like it... but it just fails hard at so many things, is very bloated, has a not-great package manger and a few other things that yank my chain. hardware support and hardware detection/installation they do a great job of though. almost better than any other linux distro or windaz in that respect.

i'm serving up mostly stuff thats half developed before i sell it :) websites/databases/custom PHP/SQL jobs/ and a host of other tingz.

aye, i get how it might be seen as a bit bloated, but as far as linux is concerned it's the first distro i've tried out (the first of many, going back about 8 years) that I haven't wanted to obliterate from my hard disk ASAP like it's got bad computer AIDS.

so tell me, please:

1. how do i get the VGA out on my laptop to auto-detect my big massive TV without restarting the computer?

2. how do i configure the tilt-left and tilt-right buttons on my logitech mice so i can zoom in and out on my browser? (without manually fucking about with /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a terminal window like a h4x04 m33rk4t on crystal meth)??? :D
