Aye I think I prefer it as well. The first one is a lot creepier but this is just a full on aliens going mental, shit blowing up, proper good action movie.

Considering this film came out when I was 1 year old it still, for the most part, looks amazing. Back in the days before everything was done in front of a green screen & they had to actually build the crazy sets that they're running about on. It was far better that way.

I remember watching The Goonies recently on a comedown & the set in that with the pirate ship is spectacular.
 
Fuckin hell yea I was blown away by The Goonies as a child :)

A lot of what would now be done with CGI was done with artwork. Like in Akira - When you "move through the buildings" it's just the animators moving certain layers of the drawings to the sides to give the impression of passing through a 3D environment.
Cunning and way ahead of it's time :)
 
The Goonies is one of the best child-adventure films ever, I still enjoy it now and again. The pirate ship scene is actually all of the casts first reaction to the ship, as they'd never seen it before. (Bit of trivia ;) )

i never played it, but yes its not the best name, and i don't know the game.

i think i have wasted my life. i only just discovered burger sauce.
