Anyway, all quiet here. Everywhere was supposedly closing early, but no sign of any trouble. Hopefully stays that way.

what end you at if ya dont mind me askin, im in the west between ealing and notting hill so im wondering if theyre gunna head this way soon :\

wishing i didnt start that thread now lol, its a hot topic, just thought i could do with some light relief, im pretty stoned, smoking some niice maroc pollen, really bubbly n sticky, how is everyone, without mention of a certain subject as its a room divider by the posts in that thread!

Midway between Brixton and Clapham. Closest tube is Brixton, but I haven't been down there since Sunday, before the trouble started. Clapham Junction is a few miles from me, and there doesn't seem to have been any trouble any closer. Last night there were sirens all evening and night, going down Brixton Hill Rd, but I haven't heard anything tonight. Local Brixton forum says many shops are shut, but everything seems quiet. (Supermarkets shut, some of the small ones open :D)

fair play, thats good at least! hopefully itll subside soon, dread to think what the commute will be like tomorrow :\ anyways im far too stoned to keep up with all these goings on, will have to catch up in the morning, peace all! :)

SpecialK: they've talked about using water cannons and/or plastic bullets over here. Some interesting comments on the Guardian blog, here, that reference Northern Ireland. Comments from the Chief Constable of Northern Ireland that it would be a bad idea; mention of the idea that it looks a bit like one rule for Ireland (rubber bullets) and one for the rest of the country.

Sam: remember the British army was in Northern Ireland for 25 years.

I think that over there there aren't actually any water cannons in police possession, however there are rubber bullets. I hope no one takes this the wrong way but I think that it could possibly be due to the lack of experience with this scenario, in N.I this was a regular occurrence - for example unlike the majority of shops over there almost every shop here has a shutter. So in a way it's a learning experience, there's a lot of variation in police tactics if you compare for example yesterdays riot/looting and the 12th July riots in Ardoyne, such as police moving back from rioters as opposed to using vans to press forward and forming a large intimidating row; although there is much more 'police brutality' in these cases, but at the end of the day it's necessary to sort things out. I think even the use of rubber bullets would make many looters thing twice, as opposed to contemplating which pair of shoes to pick. I recall someone discussing how they refuse to use certain methods until agreed with by the public, this isn't really the right way to go about it, by the time a decision is made every shop in London and beyond will be burnt or destroyed. Thanks for sharing that link, it's interesting to hear the people over there's opinions as opposed to a news feed.

I saw an image earlier of a guy posing with his looted xbox/ps3 equipment and games, there was bound to be one! Looking forward to seeing him in court.

How is everyone this evening then? That pollen sounds nice Breakcorefiend!

I see that as one state occupying part of another, but I'm not going to start another shitstorm. ;)

And yeah my PM inbox was full. A bit of an oversight, but I was getting all wound up over social justice / figuring out which pharmacies would've been the easiest targets. It's sorted now. Until the death threat messages start up again.

Heh, I'd agree with you on that. But I don't think the majority of people in N Ireland would, and it's certainly de jure part of the UK. [But yeah, I'll happily drop this one too :D]. And death threats? You've arrived, man! You're nobody here until people have threatened you ;)

Having the stupidest battle of wills with work about how many hours my contract will say I'm supposed to work. I've said 40 hours is more than I was orginally hired to do and that a 37.5 hour week would be a good compromise and they're digging their heels in, saying they need to have standard hours across the business without any real reasona s to why this would be so, and this is clearly a load of crap since they don't have that anyway. Obviously just trying to squeeze as much time out of me as possible in return for the move from an hourly wage to salaried wage (small busines,s I suppose I get it, but fuck off anyway).

Finding the fact they can't make this tiny concession quite revealing.

edit: lol brilliant IJ

Feel really crap today, had a meeting with my boss that didn't go well and have the doctors this afternoon, gonna have to get the bus there as my bike was stolen, can not really afford to be getting the bus, but I don't have a choice. My internet is going to cut off for at least a day starting at about 11pm tonight, just feeling really down, don't like feeling so down :(

Back to reality is not good, I don't like reality, I can't handle it very well :\

Shit man :\ what went down with the boss?? your bike was stolen?? ahh man reality does suck!

Wibble that sucks also! im just so glad i havent got super strict bosses as i cant deal with that! i mean whats 2.5 hours to them?? can you 'work from home' for those extra hours? ;)

work is actually quite busy today, only really had a chance to sit down now! but still got more to go, cant be fucked travelling home by tube though, hope nothing kicks off :\ cant be dealing with that! anyways im all good, shops intact, not long left, ahh its not so bad..a vast contrast to how i was monday LOL but thats how it goes innit, ups n downs..lifes rollercoaster of emotions when you start playing with your brain chemistry lol :P

Catastrophy. I have money in paypal that I want, but that piece of shit takes days to put into your bank.

up to 5 to be precise :\ wish there was a way you could buy a voucher with it and cash it in a shop..why the fuck hasnt that happened.. actually then noone would be safe would they :\

Aye it's fucking shit, I don't even see the purpose for paypal what so ever. It's just an annoyance, it helps nothing. I WANT MONEY FOR DRUGS. I'm scratting around trying to get someone to bank transfer me the money, and I send it them over paypal. No success :@.

Neat glossing over of the part of my post that explicitly mentioned the insanity of the theocrats in Iran, but even I don't have the heart let a minor detail like that stand in the way of somebody posting comedy gold of the calibre of "fucking lol".

Back to torrential rain here rather than marauding youths. Not as exciting and twice as annoying. Oh well.
