The last two years I spent shooting meth in the city, living homeless. I weighed 120lbs when I got out of jail in October. I started working out and eating decently in December and hadn't weighed myself until yesterday. I weigh 171lbs!! I'm freaking out and this is the biggest I have ever been. How much weight have other people gained after quitting? Any tips and tricks? Is this normal?
I eat normally and don't eat junk food, I've overcome that part of my recovery and I try to work out daily, I usually do. 20 minutes on a AMT machine and about an hour with weights. I feel good, but the number on the scale yesterday has sent me into a deep depression, almost so much that I want to run out there and use again just to drop the pounds; I won't do this, but the feeling is there.
I am in a program and actively pursuing my recovery.

How tall are you, are you male or female, and what do you weigh? Kind of hard to figure out what you're depressed about here without knowing what your goals are and such. Are you getting fat or something?

Yep,,I am witb nutty on this one, it is hard to determine what your ideal weight will be if we do not know the factors that nutty asked. What I have read is that this is quite common for meth users who have quit. What happens is since Meth decreases your appetite, your body is in starvation mode and this pattern sends signals to your brain. On the time you quit, the brain is still thinking that your body is still in starvation mode thus store all the fats it can. I am not sure though how the mechanism of the body goes back to normal as everyone us different but I would suggest to just wait it out and continue your healthy living and you should be able to go back to normal in time.
