Hi all,
Long time lurker and now a member. I want to start by giving a big thank you to all the people that make this site happen. The value of the information provided here is priceless. Bravo!
I've heard of peoples stories about starting to use opiates recreationally only to find themselves very addicted and looking to change forthe better. I have done some research about the different methods people use to turn their lives around. One of the methods I would like to learn more about is the quick methadone detox. Though not the preferred method these days it is still one I would like to learn more about. Would appreciate a chime in and/or recount of the experience from anyone who has anything to offer on the subject.
For the sake of having base information, let's say the subject is male, 180/lbs, in reasonably good health, smoker, has been using for about a year and half, starting dosage was about 10-20mg Oxycontin daily up the nose and now on average daily usage is 60-240mg Oxycontin up the nose. Subject at times goes up and down in usage and substitutes DOC with whatever might be around including, H, Morphine, etc. Also for the sake of discussion let's say that the subject has access to 210 mg mixed oral solution methadone (110mg/100ml ratio)
Some of the questions I have are:
- What should the starting dose be? My thoughts would be to start to with 10/mg doses and up dose by 10 every two hours until withdrawal symptoms subside.
- What is the maximum time subject should use this treatment to minimize possibility of new addiction?
- How the does this ever work, like what is the mechanism of action? I mean I understand substituting one drug for another to fight off withdrawal of current DOC but how is this a detox? And why would subject not go into withdrawal when the detox is completed??
Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. I have done a lot of research on the drug and have total respect for it. Have read as much as I could find on this detox. Just want to hear what others have to say. I would also be open to calling someone to have a discussion aboutthe subject if anyone would care to. PM me if thats an option.
Peace n love,
