Benzos Question to the Benzo experts out there...

So I went to my doc today about that shitty Buspirone and got him to write me a script of 28 .25mg Klonopins, which will last 2 weeks when taken as directed, but he then told me that he was not going to write me any more benzo scripts "due to their abusive nature" so what am I supposed to do in two weeks when I run out and have panic attacks with nothing to help me???:X
I was thinking about going to see another doctor but I don't want to be told the same thing over and over....when I call to make an appointment should I ask what their policy on prescribing benzos would be? :(

You go to a different doctor who isn't going to bitch out on writing benzodiazepine prescriptions.

Bring your empty and/or half full benzo bottles to another doctor, and they will be able to help you out.

^ Yes, one of the greatest albums ever. I have been spreading collective awareness of my music collection across Bluelight recently. :D

About the valium, they only scripted me 5mg a day for ten days worth to be stopped after that. Fuck them. And it's only for night time use, not for anxiety during the day. Other alternatives like long acting benzodiazepines or even other anti-anxiety drugs were not even fucking discussed at the psych ward and no one believed me when I said I have had manic episodes.

:\ I'm sorry to hear that man.

I got more 5mg diazepam tablets than I wanted to be honest... I don't like diazepam, it's horrible for sleep because it interrupts the REM sleep cycle.

Diazepam does last a long while compared to most benzos, the only other "longer" lasting benzo I can think of is flurazepam.

^ Yes that's right, valium is long acting isn't it?

For some reason though isn't klonopin or other substances better indicated as a long duration benzodiazepine for some reason? Like, as in taking every day? Not sure...

I do know that 10mg of valium last night led to the first dream I've had in months involving a threesome with me, my girlfriend and my sister's hot friend! :D

What you need to do is save your Klonopins that you have and take them as needed. Your script of 28x .25mg Klonopin should last 3 months or more if you take them as needed and don't abuse them or take them for the smallest stressor.

Be careful on relying on chemicals to 'fix' your anxiety/stress/etc. There are other ways to get rid of your anxiety, not only by popping a pill. If you keep using the mindset that only benzos will help you then you're going to go down a long road of benzo addiction that will be counter-productive towards your treatment.

Your doctor in my opinion is right, benzos aren't that great long term and you should use that Klonopin script rarely if at all. That script should last you a while... and when you run out, maybe you can ask your doc then and tell him you've been only using your script as needed and would like another small script to use as needed.

Seriously, you may think that getting scripted a lot of benzos by a doctor may be appealing right now, but in the future when you get dependent on them/psychologically addicted to them, you'll regret ever meeting that 'generous' doctor. Benzo addiction/dependency makes anxiety worse.

Man i say find a different doctor. .25mg of Klonopin is fucking shit. I was prescribed .5 and it did absolutely nothing. I needed at least 1mg to feel anxiety relief.

Yes I'm currently involved in outside treatment regimens including daily gym visits, getting as much sun as possible, and seeing my therapist to see what she thinks could help me out. It just seems that none of this has helped. Believe me, I am trying my best to overcome this. How the hell am I gonna get a decent job if I'm too anxious to walk in the door? That's what worries me is that if this continues I will become some kind of basement shut-in that wires their house off the grid...8)

That's what I'm thinking. I believe I will make a few calls tomorrow to in-network physicians and maybe make an appointment.

The only thing is...should I take the Xanax bottle (empty because he gave me shitty .25s for three days) or the Klonopin bottle (almost full because I got it filled today) when I go?

Most doctors don't have a problem prescribing hydroxyzine (Atarax) as an anxiolytic... it's an anti-histamine, but also an anxiolytic, sure its not as effective as benzos, but its not addictive... you should give it a shot... 25mg 4 times a day (morning, after lunch, after dinner, and before sleep), and if that doesn't work then maybe try going to another doctor....

but be aware that embarking on a benzo addiction is not something to be taken lightly..

Just tell him the xanax Works Great, but it doesn't last as long as it should and You would rather only have to take 1 pill a day. Honestly though DO NOT mention shit unless you've been on the meds for at the least a year. Otherwise all you'll get is horseshit.

When I wanted Valium, I told my doctor Xanax sedates me to much, and I end up sleeping when I don't need to and it fucks my sleeping pattern up, and that I would Like to try Valium. Script for 45 10mg Valiums soon after.

If you have any serious work to do then Valium will just take away your motivation and your memory. The downside of Xanax is its short halflife... but you can get around that with Xanax XR.

In the end they are both benzos and they will both cause withdrawal upon stopping.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. I work at Steak N Shake and I have to move pretty fast. If I take Valium I may take the "fast" out of "fast food" haha. I'm still on the fence on what to ask for when I go my other dr. appointment. I think I'd rather just have Xanax 8)

After taking a number of different benzos for anxiety and panic attacks, I can safely say that nothing works like Xanax.

The effect of alprazolam is so specific and the lack of hangover effects are so attractive.

The only benzo that compares to alprazolam is lorazepam, but that makes me forget things too easily.

So, if you can get a script for Xanax, or even better Xanax XR... you have your hands on what I would consider the best benzo.

But of course this is so subjective that you may like something totally different.

Have you gotten to try triazolam yet? It's in the same class of benzos as Xanax.

I have heard people who say the same thing about anxiety/panic, that nothing else works like Xanax.

I still get a slight "hangover" effect from Xanax if I take it at night time, but that's because most benzos interrupt the REM sleep.

The way he talked about it, it was supposed to be a non-addictive wonder drug and the only thing it does is make me feel worse...:!

Doctors love doing this with all kinds of drugs that support their office. Notable SNRIs SSRIs which they'll often call "non-addictive," and not mentioning the fact that if you miss a dose for a weekend, you'll probably try to hang yourself.

I suggest hit up another doctor. There are plenty of doctors out there who are more than willing to prescribe benzos in large amounts for those in need. Trick is to keep the use LOW, and try to avoid abusing your script if it actually helps you out.

Best advice yet!

However, this is somewhat "intuitive" for some of us. I would never abuse my precious sleep meds, because I would never want to not have them when I really do need them.

For other people, it isn't instinctual to not abuse medications that are medicinal, so that's a great warning chainer3k!

yeh took some last night I got from the momz and woke up feeling like I had been on a drinking binge :|

I wonder if it would be too much to ask for Klonopins for daily use and Xanax and/or Valium for breakthrough attacks (like most of the time when I drive on the interstate) :?

I'm not sure, some doctors would rather give you less of two benzos, but most would rather write for one. Then again if you get benefits from both clonazepam and alprazolam, that's a long and short acting one; I could see you being able to get those two.

Clonazepam and diazepam both have long half lives and they would build up in your system.
