i have my first visit with my sub doctor tomorrow. I've been buying subs off the street and he is going to piss test me more than likely. I've heard you're supposed to be in withdrawal for the first visit when they induct you. Should i fake withdrawal and not say anything or tell him I've been getting suboxone on the street already? I'm nervous i dont wanna fuck this up.

Sorry, we can't tell you what to say to a doctor.

I will say that you can't really fake WD, I mean they do test things like BP, white cell count, etc.

But, they know you're an addict and what you've been using shouldn't matter. But it varies with the doctor, which is why we can't really give you advice.

i understand but on your first visit when the doctor gives you a strip you're supposed to be withdrawing correct? if im not in withdrawal what do you think will happen? should i tell him im already taking it or do you think thats a bad idea? last time i took sub was 2 hours ago it was about 3mg. my appointment is at 11am tomorrow. I should be in minor withdrawal hopefully (first time ive ever hoped for w/d lol) thanks

... What do you think will happen? The same thing that happened the last time you took man, the docs strips aren't special, it will work just fine.

Besides, every doctor I've ever heard of starts with subutex(due to ignorance of how medication works) so it's a moot point.
(though with introduction of Zubsolv, this should soon be changing. Leave it to the Europeans to actually know what the hell they're talking about!)

this guy ^ obviously i didnt mean what will physically happen to me. i meant what repercussions will there be if im not in withdrawal? will he tell me to come back at a later date or kick me out or what? dont reply to the thread with smart ass remarks i dont need that kind of negativity. thanks anyway. and here in the US my doctor will definitely give me suboxone film strips. Theres fliers all over the office about it.

ok thanks. I'll just be straight up with him then. hopefully i dont get told to never come back or something.

Just be honest. I told my sub doctor I had been taking subs for a few days, he had no problem and expects it from his patients.

No one can blame you for not wanting to be sick.

it doesn't matter that i'll be like a 2 on the COWS scale for my induction though? thats the only reason im considering faking W/D. legally doctors can't prescribe you sub if you dont score high enough on the COWS scale. thanks though Larc. i definitely want to be honest with my doctor and be an A grade patient, however i don't want to jeopardize my getting suboxone. way too expensive buying them from my usually connect.

My buddy(really not swim, really a good friend lol) had exactly the same issue, dude made him an appt for next day. It's always diff dude depending who u see. Be honest and you'll get respect. If u disrespect him then he won't respect u.

Yeah, just be sick for a little bit man. My ex girlfriend was on 16mg per day. She couldn't go 8 hours without shooting up, but she managed to go 24 hours to get subs. Subs will change your life for the better, being sick for 24 hours is worth never getting sick again isn't it?

"Every doctor I've ever heard of". Not every one in the country.

And I don't know how I was being rude, nothing about your post was very clear. I already answered you're first question; you are supposed to be in WD, and you know that. As for "what will happen", we don't know, it depends on the doctor. But I know at least 2 people who we're told to come back because they weren't in WD, and yes, they lied and said they were, but they clearly weren't and had to come back. Even if he were to make you come back, he would likely let you come in the next day.( I must note though, neither we're on buprenorphine)

As for "should you tell him", once again, we cannot tell you what to say to a doctor, it is against the rules you agreed to.

You can't make a post that is vague, with at least 1 question that isn't even allowed, and then be pissy you don't get an answer you like. (Well, clearly you can, but it isn't nice :) )

Good luck with you're appointment, though. No one here can tell you for sure how he will respond, use your best judgement.

(Doctors can do whatever they want, and besides, unlike methadone, there is legally no requirement you prove a current physical dependence, so the COWS thing is inaccurate. It's all up to him, which is why questions like this can't be answered meaningfully)
