Qualitative differences in psychedelics while on SSRI

That's one way to guarantee a bad trip. Incredibly stupid idea, don't ever do this.

I understand why you're saying that because I know you want to be in a good state of mind prior to any kind of trip, but I'm not on Lexapro for depression. The only reason I'm taking it is because my mom is making me because I requested a Xanax prescription from my doctor. My mom only agreed to pay for the Xanax if I do it in conjunction with Lexapro because she believes that Xanax is just a band-aid and won't help in the long run. A main point of me asking for the Xanax script was because I use it to come down from LSD and was sick of buying it from other kids when it is pretty easy to get. I'm also overseas and flying at least once a week and use the Xanax to combat my anxiety while taking off.

I'm perfectly happy and enjoy a vast majority of my LSD experiences. But I will take into consideration what you said and if I have anything to add after I try it I will definitely be back to this thread to warn others.

I've never tripped while not on an SSRI/SNRI, but if my effects were blunted... holy shit.

Haha. My experience is similar, tho sometimes i'd take days off the cymbalta to trip but never noticed a difference. The only thing that may have been was a slight dampening/flattening of emotions, dulling a bit of the psychedelic headspace... otherwise, there were always plenty of visuals, audials etc to keep me occupied during a trip

It's interesting to note that ever since this particular month of extremely heavy LSD use (back in september 08'), SSRIs, tramadol, MDMA, several psychiatric-meds and basically all heavily serotonergic-drugs give me LSD-like effects (visuals, audio distortion, depersonalization, derealization, time distortion) to some extent... Some visuals so vivid/elaborate they made me question my sanity at times

Strangely enough, escitalopram hasn't affected the intensity of my trips at all. I'm not on escitalopram now, but I have used a lot of different tryptamines on it and had great trips. Also methoxetamine went together very well. I don't know if it's something special in my brain chemistry, but I don't have to take larger doses of psychedelics with escitalopram. I don't know how other SSRI's would effect my trips though, since I've never tripped on any other SSRI. The only difference I maybe would say I've noticed is my trips have been a bit more sedating, but on the other hand I've felt a stronger feeling of inner peace with escitalopram + psychedelics. So while SSRI's generally decrease the intensity of trips, it can vary quite much between individuals.

Edit: Btw, don't stop SSRI's temporarily because you want to trip/roll. At least with SSRI's with a long half-life, you have to wait about a week before the SSRI is out of your system completely and then the withdrawal symptoms kick in.

^^^ This. Different SSRI's have different half lives so if you're on Prozax it would take much longer for it to leave your system than say if you're on Paxil. You can find out the half life of your SSRI with a simple search. I used to stop taking my SSRI to trip, though I wouldn't recommend it. Not only do you experience the discontinuation syndrome but after you trip you have to deal with starting up the meds again and building up levels in your system. Not really worth it.

Tripping while on an SSRI isn't worth it, IME. Some people seem to get more out of the experience than I did. If you have some LSD, it's best to save it for a time when you'll be off the medication. LSD is pretty stable if stored properly.

yea i ate my way through a sheet that month so didn't have to worry too much about the economics of saving hits. i was basically fried 4-5 days a week
