Do any feel voting is Democratic, or even believe Demoratsy is the best form of a Poitical system. Never mind, Politic s are boring !

 
this is the band schlong covering fleetwood mac for like twelve minutes like cool punk and also muppets. the drummer was in the band operation ivy. they used to sell operation ivy shirts at the store hot topic back in the day when they had all those cool 4$ cds.

operation ivy was probably the coolest shirt at hot topic, and i listened to a ton of them in seventh grade. got into emo in 8th grade and lost my punk edge... as a stoner and psychedelic user, i find operation ivy's full album's pretty hard to listen to, but they have some tolerable stuff and their music is mostly super cool and interesting despite it can be annoying to me. the schlong album is bizarre and i could see how it would be annoying to some people. i can listen to it with out being too bothered.

this is one of my favorite OP ivy songs as an adult. wasn't my favorite as a kid although i listened to that whole cassette on repeat for months, even going back and forth to school. i think i just really grew to like the lyrics of this song, and i like when they go "insaaaaane":



"The crowd" drove me insane in a good way as a teen, but after tripping out, i find it kind of wonky or it lags or something. the singers vocals are sick when he does the shit that reminds me of morrissey, but i don't know about "the crowd". i still really like the song "bad town" as well, and a few other tracks by OP ivy. i like some of the songs on seedy. idk. operation ivy is a great band, but some of their songs kind of annoy me as an adult. i probably shouldn't even mention it, but i use my blue light account to write to the CIA and gang stalkers. i want them to understand my mind, and i wouldn't even mind if some BL users didn't hate my post... anyways, this is my ODE TO OP IVY!!! THANKS FOR READING IF YOU DID... CHECK OUT THE FLEETWOOD MAC. some of that drumming is insane, the drummer's choice of drums i'm pretty sure he's hitting the heads really hard with some of the drum fills. kind of interesting his athleticism. OP IVY SHIRTS HOT TOPIC DAWG!!! HISTORICAL!!!

EDIT: someone posted scholong on reddit hardcore a few months back... scholong only really has a few hardcore parts.

I used to LOVE Op Ivy back in the day!! I got my t shirts from hot topic tbh lol. I’m gonna check the Fleetwood Mac video now
 
I've been into underground music for 30 years, but I'm curious about something...

Would the word "punk" include all the "rebellious" genres that were birthed from it? Including everything from Glam Rock to Goth Rock to Goregrind & Hardcore Punk? Even industrial & noise artists have "punk" influence.

So when does a band/artist STOP being "punk"? Is it an attitude or is it a sound? Like I can identify Crust Punk & Grindcore by ear & know that those are "punk-adjacent" genres... But some of the "punk" music from the late 60's and 70's can sound almost like just basic, generic "rock". When I hear industrial & noise bands, I don't automatically think "punk", even though there's no rules saying punk CAN'T be electronic as well (Look at Alan Vega & Suicide).

It's strange to me that something like..Iggy Pop or David Bowie is "punk", just as much as some real anarchist crust-punk bands out there or some incredibly extreme fast, angry music.

I grew up listening to "Punk" as a kid (aka Crust punk, Grindcore, Hardcore Punk, Noisecore). I always assumed "Punk" was music with simplistic chords/riffs, D-beats, blast beats, shorts songs & political lyrics. But that's not always the case! As electronic acts (Suicide) and slow brooding 'metal-like' bands (Amebix) are both "punk"?

So if it's the attitude, then that means goth rock, avant garde, goregrind, grindcore, dark electronic & industrial, even some black metal counts as "punk".

But if it's the "sound", then what "sound" is it? Because as I've explained, "punk" bands can sound wildly different from each other.

Another example, the band Impetigo's first demo. Entirely "punk" music, from the simple riffs & chords to the blast beats, short songs, etc.. Pretty much hardcore punk mixed with grindcore. Only thing different is instead of "political themes", they're switched out for horror & gore themes. So obviously this would make them "goregrind", but is that not still a type of "punk" music? Which just brings me right back to my original question, is it the "sound" or the "attitude" or "something else" that makes something punk? Or is punk just a watered down term now for all alternative/rebellious/angsty/avant garde music?
