Should stupid people be held accountable for their actions?
yes, punishment should be death.
Should stupid people be held accountable for their actions?
due to the neurological processes that happen with aging and imprints on one's brain, some people *can't* "catch up" philosophically, intellectually, morally, academically, or otherwise. thus, we have a generation gap.be patient, everyone learn at their own speed, if you care, help them along but dont slow down or stop unless their important. you have to learn, its unavoidable. some people appear not to be, but they will. so punishing them, isnt required, luckily in some cases its unavoidable. but definitely hard to watch, and not get involved. i once heard a quote,
if you are arguing with idiots, from a distance you all look like a bunch of idiots..
punishing would be comparable. imo
you seem to believe that stupidity is people's faultSimply being critical of other's stupidity isn't cruel in my opinion
there's not "mentally healthy people", "insane people" and "people who are stupid because they are lazy". There's a line to be drawn, and there are many blatantly and willfully ignorant people in the world that simply could care less about bettering themselves for the sake of us or anyone else for that matter. It's selfish, and there's no excuse for it with the amount of information and knowledge we all have at our fingertips via the Internet, public libraries, etc.
depends on context. if i am ugly, and i ask if i am ugly, and want an honest answer, then you shouldn't necessarily feel cruel.if i find you ugly, can i go around telling that you're ugly without you feeling that it's cruel?
i didn't mean just telling, but "going around telling". insisting, teasing in front of others, etc.depends on context. if i am ugly, and i ask if i am ugly, and want an honest answer, then you shouldn't necessarily feel cruel.
you seem to believe that stupidity is people's fault
that's not the case
no more than ugliness
if i find you ugly, can i go around telling that you're ugly without you feeling that it's cruel?there's not "mentally healthy people", "insane people" and "people who are stupid because they are lazy"
there's the whole spectrum from insane to "subjectively healthy"
i see on a daily basis people who can't learn, not because they are lazy, but beacuse they don't have the mental capacities
as some people can't lift weights because their body just won't develop enough muscles
some people may also appear lazy because they mental capacities prevents them from being the quick-witted you think that everyone could be
i advise to open a dictionay and look at the word after "toleragen"
or let me use your own words :
"there are many blatantly and willfully untolerant people in the world that simply could[n't] care less about bettering themselves for the sake of us or anyone else for that matter"
tolerogen [tol´er-o-jen]
an antigen used to introduce tolerance, particularly a form of an antigen (usually a soluble form) that induces tolerance, as distinguished from an immunogen, another form (usually an insoluble form) that induces immunity.

Back in the day nature used to judge the stupid by removing them off the face of the Earth. My discontent lies not with the stupid people, but with modern civilization for perpetuating their existence lolololololololol
Please take this comment in stride, but seriously, stupid people (which I totally believe exist) aggravate the hell out of me. I'm entitled to my emotional response to their behavior in earnest without feeling guilty aren't I?
Idiots should definitely be held accountable for their actions, as should all people. I find the thread title misleading though. What are we punishing this hypothetical idiot for, his actions or his idiocy? The former I approve of the latter I do not.
