There was a bush doof here in Sydney last year which was ALL darkpsy like this, and I missed it cos I was away :(
Nothing quite beats darkpsy in a strange forest in the pitch dark with your tribe of hippies all stomping in the dust ;)

I got to see Penta last weekend play in a forest. Although it was not quite dark there was a lot of stomping done! If they put up pictures or videos I'll post em.
 
Just got the brand new Artifact303 - Back To Space CD yesterday. Released on Suntrip Records.

I'm usually very pessimistic about psytrance nowadays and maybe get excited by 1 album in 20 and blow away by one in 100. Well, this one blew me away - big time! I've loved Artifact303's tracks on various compilations and his CD is a masterpiece in new-school goatrance. So full of energy and psychedelic vibes it's just unbeliavable. Yes, the tracks do follow the same pattern a bit but since they are so freaking good it doesn't mind me at all.

Are there someone into dark psytrance here? Especially Parvati records releases absolutely great albums and compilations. Just bought VA - Parvatrip 2.

Anyhow, some of my fav. dark psy artists: Para Halu, Atriohm, Encephalopaticys, Gidra, Gappeq, older Azax Syndrom (I can't stand their new sound), Blisargon Demogorgon, Kindadza, Samadhi, Terminator...

I don't like the +150 BMP "dark psy high nrg" or whatever, IMO it's not psychedlic trance anymore, it's more lika hard dance or hard NRG.

Personally, I don't care what bpm a track is. as long as it's psychedelic it's all good. Azax Syndrom and most of the 3d records catalog I find to be a little too cheesy. Too many breakdowns and buzzy synths. Melodic psy and goa are good though. They're uplifting and psychedelic without the cheese.

For me the track has a very high BPM, although I have to agree regarding goa trance. Didn't know there was a separate thread for that.

I absolutely LOVE older Azax Syndrom, in fact it is what got me in to darkpsy in the first place all those years ago. I totally agree that his most recent stuff is really cheesy and has been getting progressively so for the last 2 or 3 years......
But I will always hold a special place in my heart for Azax <3
Saw him live last year at a forest psytrance party and he was fucking BRILLIANT!!!! I went and had a chat with him afterwards, I felt like a schoolgirl, all star-struck and shit :D It was hilarious.

Hmmmm, I have to disagree with you there. I ADORE the higher bpm stuff (admittedly one of my first electronic loves was hardcore/gabber rave music so I'm well accustomed to the higher bpm's ;)) but a lot of the really good fast darkpsy that I like is still really psychedelic, albeit reeeeally seriously dark. But hey, that's what we like about it right? ;)

Example:
Trip Switch - Neuron Sequency Technology -> tell me how that is not psychedelic ;)

Proteus Comes to mind when you say this... Some of the sounds in hes mixes are rather trippy But are Hard Nrg. But i can see how someone could easily Confuse it with "Dark Psy High Nrg"

Listening to a wide variety of PsyTrance atm.

1992 - 2002 all them years, year by year.
Lots of listening =D
