yes, quintessence was in 1970 i think...their album "quintessence" is really great, early pre-shpongled stuff.

Not sure if this deserved a new thread or not, so thought I'd stick it in here.
New Reality Check album is out soon. Samples are available here

Am seeing them live on Saturday as well as Rastaliens and a bunch of other rather fantastic producers.
The trance room line up is all live performances (well, personal appearances, at least)
Am extremely chuffed. This should be a fantastic party.

Oh, and another, gotta agree with the Ozrics worship. Strangeitude was basically my introduction to psychedelic music back in my early teens when my dad gave me a copy. Have seem them live a few times now and despite John leaving, I still enjoy them a great deal.
Gotta love John's new band as well, (dream machine) bit of a new direction with more of a jazz feel but very promising and am looking forward to seeing them again next summer.
As for Eat Static, my first LSD experience was candy flipping, lying on my back watching the lightshow to Eat Static at a festival a couple of summers ago.
Have seem them live a couple of times since as well, including their album launch back in February. Was absolutely blown away each and everytime.

I like very much so far. Has got a bit of a Cosmosis feel to it.

40% is definitely not a new artist. I got him on a compilation Transparent Image on Sirius Records from '04. I liked him back then...now i think he's kinda cheesed out.

fluff is one thing. intelligent, forwards-thinking, groovy psychedelic morning forest trance is another :D

although to be honest lately i have been cranking the new Penta album... is quite dancefloor friendly. also have recently been introduced to a Samsara compilation which features some proper twisted night time backwoods musics.

Ok, I like fluffy trance (and psy trance) but what I really want is intelligent, forwards-thinking, groovy psychedelic morning forest trance.

I can get down with the really dark stuff at the right point in the night, I just seem to end up at so many parties where the sun comes up and what I call the the 4am music is still going strong.

Not fluffy, accessable...And I think he's one of the most organic-psychedelic . More 'shrooms and DMT than LSD.

Next up: what is the name of Simon Posford's mum's neighbour's aunt's goldfish?

Yeah dude, that was kind of insensitive. ;) Maybe it was snarling black mabel, or I guess that was his aunt

Just as a side point, how fluffy does everybody think Cosmosis is? How psychedelic?
I think fairly both.

Not much fluff there really, pretty hard edged and techy (later stuff). I LOVED Contact, but haven't got into much since then. I think he fell into the same 'full-on' trap a lot of artists do/did. Then again, as a pinoneer of the scene I gues he kind of invented it :\

Anyways, you guys must check out The Nam Shub of Enki's latest "Destroy Everything"....absolutely insane. 8o

cosmosis has always produced distinctive music i reckon. a couple of classic, classic albums and awesome side-projects.

currently i am revisiting Get Your Wonk On and enjoying the Tron vs. Vazik track, and also loving Penta's new creepily-titled Portugese Abduction.
