Onnomon- No monno is really interesting. The God Save The Machine compilation is allright, has a similar feel to early Cosmosis records.

Currently I've been enjoying Dark Nebula- Robotic Tongue, awesome dark and diry album. Sugar- Urban Hipster, Astral Projection- The Astral Files, Shotu- Jungle Expedition, and some comp. called What is Psychedelic? Great tune on there called Kowloon by Parana.

Brainbug, you can edit/delete your own posts if you posted in the wrong section....:)

does sun project still put out stuff? that was the last time i gave psy a listen. I need to pick it up again.

I purchased a Tribal Vision compilation. Trash Art. It's like the new wave of electrohouse/whatever crossed with hints of prog. Some fat, dirty basslines...erring a bit on the side of cheese but is good if you're in the mood for pumping your fist in the hair and clapping along on coke.

It's been mentioned before I think but

Talpa-Art of Being Non. Rocks.

Gnometones have yet another mix... this is # 72...

http://www.asmatronica.com/mixes/audiognomes/gnomemix72_lovethebom.mp3

Quite full on...!! ...I've liked nearly all their sets... not that I've listened to them all yet... I've downloaded them all (except for maybe a couple where the link didn't work) but I can't remember which ones I haven't heard yet...

Still, it's definitely worth going to their site and picking yourselves up some sets... many different styles of psy are on offer :)

1200 Micgrograms latest- Magic Numbers is out, and I'm sorry to say that it sucks. Nothing standout, every song is very throwaway, and the last track- Numbers are Alive is basically a live medley of tracks fro previous albums, so nothing new, just more live sludge. The 'medley' even includes tracks from the latest album iteslef which I thought sucks, and basically the 24 minute final track reveals that 1200 Mics are playing virtually the same set they've played for about 4 years.

Some good things are the song Numberstruck, including the ahahahaha-ing from a song of similar name by ACDC and a sample about melting faces or something. Small small things though. 3/10, didn't expect much more and will not buy it.

Pretty much figured that would be the case since Time Machine was mediocre at best (although garden of eden is pretty good).

^Yeah, I've never rated 1200 Mics to be honest. Always sounds to me as if they've knocked it up in their sleep.

Of late, I've been enjoying the following:

OOOD - Free Range
This is just a great, great album. Funksome, funsome, & altogether different to anything else out there. The collaboration with sound-wizard Ott, "Eye Of The Beholder" is one of the most beautifully uplifting pieces of dance music that I've ever heard. I'll be seeing them play at the Glade festival this summer & I can't wait to see just how they play this stuff live, as in really live, with a drummer & bass-player etc.

Mr Peculiar - Infinite Evolution
I only got this a couple of days ago, but am absolutely loving it so far. Proof that there's plenty of life left in full-on yet. This one's gonna grow & grow on me I can tell. Hooray for Aussie psy! :D

AMD - Bigfish
Full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal, stomping peaktime psytrance. AMD are Jules Hamer (Aphid Moon) & Dick Trevor (Green Nuns). I've never been that impressed with Aphid Moon's stuff, but am a big fan of Green Nuns, so I was curious to see what a collaboration between the two would produce. Excellent fuckin' stuff, as it turns out! Can't wait to see them at the Glade either: such is their combined experience, that I get the impression they're capable of destroying a dancefloor if given the chance.

Tristan - Chemisphere
This has had quite a mixed reception, although I'm not entirely sure why. It's not a patch on Prometheus' latest for example (but then nothing is as far as I'm concerned!) but nevertheless there are some absolute stormers on here. The track "If Only" in particular, is one that I just can't get enough of - it sends me into a state of wonksome delerium!
There are some ill-judged electric-guitar interludes to be fair, & the last track sounds like a poor rip-off of late-70's Pink Floyd to my ears, but even so, the album as a whole is well worth a look. (Seeing him at the Glade as well! :D)

Various Artists - Get Your Wonk On (Sonic Dragon Records)
This is one of the best comps that I've heard in ages. I'm in love with bassline on the Hemi-Sync track, & Fromem_Ory's contribution cements his place as one of finest purveyors of glimmering, uplifting morning trance around. Excellent stuff all round.

:)

^^ Just on Saiko having a listen to Get Your Wonk On... :)

.... *listening* .... :) .... :D .... =D ....

...this comp is nothin but ass shakin foot stompin goodness :D

yeah, definitely check out Beatnik and Fromem Ory's contributions to Get Your Wonk On... these two represent the future of UK psytrance methinks. Beatnik has been producing since he was 9 or something - had a track out on Nano before he could legally go to a club to hear it :D really nice guys as well! Fromem Ory and i have discussed collaborating sometime in the not too distant... which is basically a dream for me since when i hear his music my first thought is 'give up now, you will never achieve this' :D

dude, you have to come along to Thread Locked Hippies... OOOD are playing live there as well, along with Nagaul Sound Experiment, half of Far Too Loud, and myself. if you don't know Colin and the OOOD boys, it will be a great chance to meet them and you can ask how they do their live thing - it's a fucking miraculously cool act. it's been rescheduled to sometime in autumn, it'll be in london... maybe this will be the meetup we've discussed in the past? :)

right, for meself i have been enjoying:

Gappeq. his opening contribution to the v/a 'The Meaning of Life' is going to be the intro song for all hard psy mixes, methinks... chugging, loose, tribal, eastern, relentless, shuffled organic techiness. a great track from a great album, and there's a full Gappeq artist release in the pipeline too :)

Well, I've been really enjoying a few albums of late-

I beliveve I mentioned Shotu- Jungle Expedition which is a mad, beautifully produced and very trippy album. Very psychedelic, probably wouldn't appeal to fans of more melodic psy, but its nicely trippy.

Protonica- Search really nice proggypsytrance, very reminescent (at times) of earlier protoculture. Very nicely produced, nice grooves and percussion and very melodic and emotive. Kind of a blend between house-influenced progpsytrance and melodic psy!1 http://www.protonica.de/

Mindflux- Destination Space more of a psy/chill/ambient album, very cosmic and eerie and spacey. I've only heard the music, but apparently its a DVD with visiual acompanientment. Would appeal to those who like ambient and sleep songs.

Xyla- Esoterica well this is the most intense music I've heard for a long time- a friend chucked her on and all of a sudden pure ditortion came out of the speakers. This is the darkest, most industrial psy I've heard, distorted kicks, distorted percusiion, song names like Estranged Souls, Abomination. Vampsy Chaos is what I call this genre. Check her out http://xyla.net/

Spyge H- Promo very funky trance from finland, very psychedelic and free of cheese. Havene't really checked it out at length, but this Finnish guy is fucking good.

While this isn't psy, I've also been digging Cosmic Gate- Earth Mover, techy vocal hard(ish) trance. They've changed from the good old smash your fucking head in music (think human beings at a rave) to more emotive stuff. While some songs are woeful (Race Car Driver- about a race car driver :)) but its a nice change from psytrance.
