Proposition: BL Collaborative Project: Comic Book.

my vote is for horror as well. and i'd be up for helping with story and dialogue.

^ Wha?? The horror idea is so typical! (no offense ego-loss, I like your dystopian satire and counterculture superhero ideas better).

As for my suggestion for cyberpunk, here is an idea for a plot: a group of anti-heroes struggle in an apocalyptic world to recover their deteriorating identities after being totally enslaved by machines, only to find out that "gods" have broken into the world outside, not all of whom are benevolent...

What is typical about it? The screenplay as my friend and I wrote it (ten or eleven years ago) wasn't your basic zombie movie. The zombies were incidental to the main story line of a guy having a total psychotic break and going on a savage killing spree.

I hesitated to even classify it as horror because it's more of a slasher premise.

All that aside, find me a zombie story that isn't somewhat formulaic. It's pretty hard to do anything really new with the concept of the walking dead.

^ Again, no offence meant. I am sure most people liked some of what you wrote more than the others. I think your satire is fantastic.

As for zombie stories, yes - they're all the same, that's why I said its the least original - I am not a big fan of zombies in the first place :).

Lots of good story contributions. Along those lines I have my own suggestion as to the main character, or hero...although I think that "heroine" might be more apropos, for myriad reasons...;)

It would definitely make for some killer dialogue at the very least. I hope you can all tell who this is supposed to be. Keep in mind I haven't had internet access so I was working from memory, and only spent maybe 20 mins on this total. It's really just a first sketch. The style needs to be much more pimped and everything smoothed out and finalized and all that, but I can't think of anyone better as a BL superhero. :)

Anyway, I'm really happy to see that we have a lot of people willing to contribute on the writing end. We should be able to do something there. Anyone want to flesh anything out a little bit more as a proposal?

Keep in mind nothing is going to happen if we don't get more visual arts people on board. I didn't ink this or do much other than offer a rough pencil sketch, so I would love to see some people's inking and/or color efforts on it. Like I said, I'm willing to either pencil or ink, or any combination thereof, to as large or small a degree as is needed.

Come on, I want to see something people! :X :D

thats great penny
and thanks for doing this effort of organising a collective project, i love when mods actualy give a fuck about there forum (more than the modstick it comes with)
and in this case its the visual creativity part of SO that could end up as its own art forum if we do indeed participate in those project

:)

You don't have to be good at drawing to contribute to the visual arts aspect of the project. It needs people to create layouts and story boards which are rough outlines of how a page will be laid out, what images will appear in each frame, and how the visual aspect of the story unfolds. It's more like being a film director than a draftsman. You can do this with stick figures and a ruler.

What I would also like to hear is what people think of Lacey (assuming we have her permission), or a character based on her, as a character to base a comic on. It is still open to any kind of story, it just makes it even more interesting to drop a character like that into any of the "worlds" or plots that people have proposed. It would work especially well in terms of drug plots. There has to be a story in how someone from the hard drug/street subculture interacts with another drug subculture (raves, hippies/concerts, tweakers, etc.), or how someone from that world would react when thrown into a more fantastic sci-fi/fantasy world or a different time period. There is so much potential, imo. I would love to see someone come up with some sort of plot proposal, like a plotline, a rough script, etc.

Someone do something, this could be so awesome. I think you would be happy that you did.

Yooooooooo!!!! Thats wat the fuck it really is yo!! Holy shit thats sick. Im on the way out rite now but ima come back n let yall kno some of my ideas ight? Fuck yea thankx!! =D

^ that's great! so do some! and post it!

:)

In fact, everyone who said they would do something should do something. Write something, come up with a story, come up with a script, write them down and post them, draw story boards. If someone does something like that I'll do something with it. I'll illustrate some of it or storyboard it or ink someone else's pencil stuff. That's how its supposed to work.

Okay... I'm working on storyboarding right now. Since I can't draw worth a damn, it's going to be mostly stick figures done in Corel Draw. I'll post the first few pages once I'm done.

alright, fuck this storyboarding. It's tpp much trouble and it still looks like shit. I have no idea what the regular format is for writing a comic... so I'm just going to use standard screenplay formatting in the panels.

Fuck it. Panels, pages... I can't be arsed.

I've got a basic concept and a few characters. I'm going to write it as a standard screenplay, which I will then post as a PDF. The artists can take it from there.

At this point in time, I am aiming for about 26-32 pages.
