Propofol - WOW

Why are you injecting Diprivan? They gave me that when I had my spinal nerve block done and it made me black out within seconds. Consider yourself lucky you didn't give yourself a dose high enough to knock you out or you'd probably be dead.
 
Did you know that Diprivan stands for "DI-isoPRpyl IV ANesthetic" ???

Its a GABAa agonist, with seemingly, some knockon effects on cannabinoid systems, VERY steep dose response curve, it will kill you just as easily as barbs will, if not more so since the only available preperations are I.V.
 
It certainly is not at all like ketamine; it has little affinity for the NMDA receptor pore site and mainly exerts a concentration dependent agonist effect at GABA-A receptors (switching from allosteric indirect agonist to direct channel-opener at high enough concentrations--which is what makes it so dangerous in overdose, as it can then potentiate its own direct CNS depressant activity). Think of propofol (diisopropylphenol) as an ultra-potent, modern 'clinicallized' version of drinkable alcohol (EtOH)--even more-so than the barbiturates. The effects and narrow dose-response curves of the two are very similar:

A little bit and one will feel typical GABAergic sedation, with a relaxant effect.

A little bit more and one will become shitfaced drunk, eventually blacking out.

A little bit more still and one may die of respiratory depression.

Ketamine, on the other hand, is nearly impossible to kill one's self with by overdose alone (usually, ketamine-related deaths are due to safety hazards that a dissociated person becomes entirely unaware of, like oncoming traffic).

Ok guys. Dont EVER i repeat EVER do this recreationally. I woke up in the er last night. last thing i remember was chillin down on the couch to watch tv.

Unluckily i had the whole vial of propofolin my pocket anda needle. The er people found it. My doctor was cussing me out saying i could have died. I had at least 4 siezures last time they told me not that i remember them. My headache was 100 times worse then it ever was before. They had me on 4mg of morphine an hour. and iv valium everytime i would go into convultions. Well i wake up this morning and all the nurses are calling me a drug addict telling me how much of a shithead i am for doing that with a new baby.

Anyway i feel like shit today i just bought a 12 pack of beer im gonna drink it and try to forget this ever happend. Im gonna dump all my epilepsy meds and opiate pain killers and just live with this terrible condition.

Anyway dont do this shit

I think your right about it being like alcohol. Its like super alcohol but so fast and clean hitting. Anyway the er people took it away and they were nice enough not to report it to the cops so i guess i cant complain. My doctor said it was partly his fault for prescribing me so much opiate pain medication that i was becoming dependent and the headaches without it would be worse but ifi stay off of it for a few days ill be fine.

Wrote a shocked post then just realised you just said it has gone now, thank god for that, your poor wife and new child could have ended up alone. I really hope you don't do anything like that again!

Ive kicked my wife out several times. shes oneo f the main causes of my headaches. I stopped loving her a long time ago and i cheat on her every chance i get. Life would suck without pain relief i really dont care anymore. If i had access to heroin i would slam like 5 grams right now....
 
Why didn't you leave her before she got pregnant if you don't love her? I think it would be better for the baby in the long run if you left rather than it seeing its dad kill himself through drink and drugs and cheat on its mother, and grow up in that terrible environment.
