Producers helping producers

i could mix it together using ableton live and have it all flow to perfection, that way it would work really well as promotional stuff, and no one could rip our tracks to mp3 and share them on slsk so that the whole world has them (and label wouldnt want it due to it not being exclusive)

Is it gonna be any problem doing a smooth mix across a BPM range of 100 or so (from like 80-180) without noticably altering the sound of some of the tracks?

you can always slow the previous track down at the end before you mix to the proper BPM of the next track :)

Alright then, lets get to submitting . . . today is the seventeenth of June . . . we'll keep it up until the first of August then we can start picking which tracks are gonna be on it . . . in the mean time lets use this thread to discuss details about how we're gonna do it as well as for remix trades, promotional help, etc. etc. and I'll start up a submission thread. :)

I"m not really down with the whole CD thing for reasons i'd rather not get into. but.....
other things i'm interested in are. i'd like to know what some of you are doing to become successful as producers. how are you making cash. how are you getting your name out. and so on.....

i'd also like to get sum pointers on mastering. what are you using...how do u use it...i'm a complete begginer on that. so if you don't mind helping out a newB that would help me...

i'm always looking for funky guitar samples...if any1 wants to trade sum that would help my producing as well. i've also been looking for a vst guitar plugin if any1 has one that would help too.

i guess lastly would be, if you promote events, or knows sum1 that does, and are looking for DJ's that know how to play to a cyphur. hit me up. i have plenty of original beats and experience with such.

if any of u wanna list out a wish list like i just did i might be able to help u out with sum things.

thanks in advance for any responses,

well, different things work for dif't ppl. and also, some things
work well with certain genres.... what kind of music are you
producing?

are you producing music to later be pressed into vinyl?
i've talked to a couple of mastering plants and they
always tell me the same thing: keep the mastering
to a minimum... b-c they will master it and it's easier
to master off of the prime version than to master on
top of your own mastering.

if you got the bucks, native instruments just came out with
a guitar rack plug in VST complete with MIDI foot pedal for
near perfect emulation.

it's expensive... but it's worth it if you are making alot of music that rely
intently on guitars.... which is what i'm moving to.

mostly i produce funk w/ a break beat behind it. my fan base is mostly composed of break dancers and other proffesional dancers. i've even custome made songs for crews and dance groups for competitions and shows. most of my money comes from spinning (off a laptop) at clubs and selling my CDs at those clubs.

thanks for the info on that. my music sounds pretty good off the laptop in the clubs but i wasn't sure if i needed to do more w/ it or not. many Dj's make comments about how we have better sound than them because we run straight off the laptop. i would like to get more volume and a bigger kick sumtimes and i wasn't sure if that was through mastering which i haven't done or not.

thanks again. i don't have the bucks for it but now that i know what i'm looking for i might run into sum1 that has it. i already use NI B4 organ extensively so i'm familure w/ NI software and the quality of their stuff.

^^Thanks for bumping. Thad was such an amazingly talented person who constantly kept striving to better his craft, as well as never hesitating to help others with the same interests. Lets keep this thread alive :)

its basicly as cheap to get cds burnt, printed in full colour and put inside full colour sleeves than it is to burn them urself.

Id be up for remixing anything. If anyoneout there makes tracks and wants some remixing done post up and Im sure a few of us would be ineterested in downloading a rar with the wav samples of the loops and having a bash.
