I think he was refering to the Stilvoll post which was slightly antagonizing (altho' I do see his point).
I do agree that the edm community is filled with too many thinkers and not enough doers. I would have much more appreciated this post if Negative had just decided "ok, here's what I **AM** gonna do... who's on board." and then had all the particulars ironed out.
Asking what we think will introduce too many cooks... which always spoil the pot.
Yeah, I was referring to Stilvoll with that post . . . sorry for the confusion . . .
. . . and physix, the only reason I didn't just start off that way was that I wanted to start the thread off a little more open . . . I wanted the thread to be about more than just the comp, like people doing remixes for one another and promotion for one another . . . that being said, I am gonna do this so long as there is enough quality interest . . . my friend Chris and I had been thinking about doing something similar with just our friends but none of them seem like they want to go any farther than the talking stage so I decided to bring it to Bluelight, mainly because I know that there are a lot of talented producers on the boards. Details can always be ironed out once the ball is rolling . . . so I'll go ahead and start that ball down the hill.
What I was thinking originally was to do twelve tracks. I know from what I have heard in the production thread, in the contest and just from sharing with fellow bluelighters that the majority of the tracks that will be submitted (and that will most likely be on the comp) will be the faster dancefloor stuff: Techno, house, breaks, dnb and trance. I'd like it to be as diverse as possible but I don't think that we should put that ahead of quality. It would be nice to see some tracks that are written by bluelighters and remixed by other bluelighters (hint hint

) . . . so if you have a track that you'd like someone to remix for this, or you have heard a track of someone else's on the board that you would like to remix for this, ask them . . . I don't want this to be too drawn out of a process so I think that six weeks to post submissions would be sufficient . . . I'll see if I can't get this sticky'd in the Lounge, T&A and DC as well (the submission thread that is) so that we can get comments on tracks the minute that they are posted . . . after the six weeks we could have a poll in one forum and let that last a week . . . between the poll results and the comments in all the related threads we as a group can pick the twelve that would go on the disc . . .
NOTE: I would suggest that if you don't have any intention of helping with putting this out financially that you don't submit . . . not to be shitty about it but as physix already stated, if we don't do this proper then we might as well be duping CD-Rs ourselves and sending them out . . . I'm going to start looking around for the best deal on quantity CD duplication so that we can have an idea of exactly how much it would cost for how many CDs . . . after we get going we could decide how much each of us is willing to throw down to do this . . . and accordingly that will tell us how many CDs we will get . . . I think that it would be a good idea to send a few of the CDs out, before we divvy them up, to a few music mags and radio stations, maybe try and get some recognition that way . . . say we could earmark 50 discs for this purpose and split the rest evenly . . . if this sounds like a good idea to the rest of you then start gathering places to send those 50 to and then, if we end up with more than 50 places, we can decided which 50 to send them to. Lets do this for real.
