Even better then Jonhny Cash his cover imo, which was already bizar good .

He is very good at translating lyrics. And making them so they fit.

This is great cover, and possibly inique in that the band who recorded this cover (The Beatles) actually wrote it themselves!

How so? Well Lennon/McCartney wrote the song then gave it to The Rolling Stones who needed a hit single, which they had with this tune. Then The Beatles recorded it later themselves. Am sure there's another well known example of this but can't remember right now

That would make a very interesting category, later releases by the songwriter of songs that someone else already used....Of course, I can't actually think of any offhand!

have remembered...this one exact same scenario

Bowie wrote this for his mates Mott the Hoople who needed a hit as career flagging - I think it made number one for them

And then he recorded it himself later, here's an incredible live version
