Preglabin, Mirtrazapine, Codeine, Diazepam

For the average person 7.5 or as low as 3.75 mg Mirtazepine should work sufficient.

My dosage was mainly so high because I woke up half way and took the other 1/2 of the 30 mg tab. I had severe insomnia at that time and a lot of stress.

Another thing it works excellent on reducing anxiety.
This is a great point! Mirtazapine is one of those meds where less works better :)

Right I going carefully going to taper the Mirtazapine I get 30mg went down to 15mg by breaking them in half. I’ve asked my doctor to prescribe me with 15mg the original doctor said there was no such thing as 15mg ( ? ) so I am getting the 15mg today. They were supposed to deliver them yesterday. I received 3 boxes of anti-biotic ffs. Good I wasn’t some ageing granny and started taking them.

If they don’t bring the 15mg today I’m getting off them anyway. I’ve rarely had sleeping problems although did last year when they were prescribed and I’ve kept taking them hence the grogginess which is easing. The worst bit ( sorry ) is I’m pissing myself in the middle of the night. It came to me that I have always had a pee middle of night but I’m so out of it on the Mirtazapine I don’t realise I need to go.
I’m definitely not incontinent fine during the day.

I’m on a low dosage now. What would the withdrawals be like if I just stopped ? I’d take a couple of dodgy nights to get off them.
Incidentally staying on the Pregalabin as recommended.
Thanks again.

So sorry if you've already said this somewhere in the thread but how long have you been on the mirtazapine for altogether?
Stopping mirtazapine will give you withdrawals which is very common for most antidepressants. Withdrawal symptoms include dizziness, "brain zaps", headache, nausea, insomnia, etc. If you taper down your dose over a matter of weeks or better yet, MONTHS, and wean yourself off, you're much less likely to experience uncomfortable withdrawals.

Last November. I might sound complacent but I have had numerous detoxes. I’m staying on the Pregalabin. I quickly starting breaking the Mirtrazapine in half so I’ve been on 15 mg for a while. Just had the 15mg delivered and hope to break them down to 7mg tonight.
I’ve mentioned before I’m familiar to most drugs.
The likes of Amitriptyline, Pregalabin etc I had never heard of. Any further direction will be very much appreciated as before.
Tramadol, Diazepam , Cocaine , Alcohol etc I am very familiar with. These “ new “ ones I havnt a clue.
Keep the suggestions coming.

Hey, I've been reading through your posts and congrats on getting off the codeine, thats awesome. I would definitely recommend staying on the Pregabalin and even doubling your dose if you can since it helps loads with benzo withdrawal. I would be careful getting off of the Diazepam too quickly, I know you said you've done it before but detoxing too quickly can cause permanent damage so it's best to do a slow taper. From everything I've read/experienced, your best bet would be to slowly cut down the diazepam and towards the end of your taper add in 150-300mg pregabalin and then taper back down to your normal dose of Pregabalin. I wouldn't recommend taking higher doses of Pregabalin for more than 2 weeks though as you can experience withdrawals from that as well. It really is a lifesaver during benzo withdrawal though.

I'm also prescribed Mirtazapine 30mg but quit a few months ago and went from 30mg to 0 in around a month. 15mg was way more effective for sleep than 30mg was for me too..I've heard quite a few people say that the lower the dose, the better it works for sleep.

Sorry if I repeated anything that's already been mentioned, I didn't read every single response. I wish you the best and I hope things are going well for you.

Well the dropping the Mitrapine helped I’m down to 7mg I’m currently on 75mg Pregalabin and I have some 25mg I don’t use. How and when do others take the Pregalabin ? Or I could take it in 25mg doses .

What do you mean? Does your pregabalin come as 100mg, and you break it down to 75mg?? Why not just take the 100mg?

No my Pregalabin comes in 75mg what effect would taking 2x 75mg have ? And what time of the day should I take them ?
Don’t forget your usual drugs I an very familiar with. These are new to me.

150mg pregabalin would feel mildly sedating, you'd feel a bit drowsy, relaxed, reduced anxiety, but only mild effects. Take it at night time. It will help you sleep.

Trouble is I am dropping down Mitrazapine to get rid of the debilitating drowsey feeling. I’m guessing the pregalabin will increase that. I do thank you for being patient with me.

No problem! The drowsiness should subside by the morning, so you should sleep it off if you take the pregabalin at night time.
I've never actually taken pregabalin BUT I've taken a lot of gabapentin which is similar. I used to always take it in the evenings and would enjoy watching TV after dinner, relaxing on the couch, then would have a great sleep, then wake up the next morning feeling very refreshed and happy!

I know that pregabalin potentiates benzos but does anyone know if it potentiates z-drugs like zopiclone?

A couple of hours a 1:30pm I took double Pregalabin 150mg
I felt a bit sleepy and had a lie down ( it’s nice weather at the moment ) rather than go into a deep sleep like I normally would and when I normally wake I feel dreadful. I just lied there relaxed , very comfortable. When got up I felt very chilled. Excellent

It does the opposite for me - makes me anxious & jittery

I’m sure a lot of my colleagues/friends on here will tell me “ I told you” but it’s makes you feel calm but functional. Even positive. I’m not going to get carried away but I think I can taper the Mirtrazapine fairly quickly and I don’t feel so worried about the remainder of the diazepam taper.
If I ended with just taking Pregalabin I think I’d be in a good functional place.

Without being cliched I think a lot depends on your previous drug journey. I’ve spent decades abusing drugs. I had a dreadful alcohol era. More recently it’s been diazepam. Not sure where you live but here you can access your medical records and was horrified to see I was first prescribed Diazepam in 2004. It’s always been easy for me to get hold of some and the last couple of years I was taking them like candies and very often topping them up with Dihydrolocodiene, co-codamol, Solphadiene etc
Both my parents have passed a lot of my family are in someway involved in the military ( submarines, airforce, Medical Corps , police ) one of my family friends was in the Special Forces, the Special Boat Service, same as Navy Seals. He was a battle surgeon, moved onto to working at a Naval Hospital, also studied psychology especially PTSD . We are close and he knows all my lurid history.
He is convinced I have PTSD after my detox/ rehab it was horrific. Firstly my detox took 4 weeks far too fast and I was convinced I was going mad it was even physically debilitating.
My brain chemistry has been permanently altered.
I’m sure your journey has been bad and your brain chemistry will be different so you will react to different meds.
Again I’ve been lucky and have had super intensive brain scans which show areas of the brain that have been rerouted. Even more amazing in some cases with a lot of training you can reroute them back.It really is incredible.
Still learning but of course I can’t start working properly until I achieve some stability.
Sorry I went on a lot but despite the shit I’ve been through I am excited at the potential.

Appreciate ya sharing ur story Manji & hope ya get the stability ya want & deserve pal. That's interesting what ya said about the brain scans. Yeah my drug history is I guess like a lotta others - as a teenager alcohol & cannabis then onto XTC, LSD & amphetamines. Then discovering pills - benzos, dhc, MST (morphine sulphate) etc. Eventually onto heroin - my brother & all his mates were doing it & eventually I tried it to see what all the fuss was about. That spiralled outta control & I ended up on the methadone program for 19 yrs, been off the methadone since December 2019 altho I do still have my slip-ups on H. Currently tapering off benzos & down to 5mg diazepam daily so getting there. Sounds like ur in the UK same as myself

Yeah South Coast U.K. I have been lucky. Some consultants don’t give a fuck it’s a lottery. I was in A&E last autumn.she was going along Triaging the new patients. I was in a state but I can talk for England. I was polite but assertive I told her the lot. I had blood tests , heart an lung tests then two brain scans the big fucker and a smaller version. They can tell whether you’ve bad brain damage , I had a contusion that’s where you bang your head and the brain moves and hits the inside of the skull. Luckily although I had damaged a part of the brain but not a part that does much. It can check for the onset of dementia. I was clear.
The weirdest bit was I was eating too healthily I needed to up my calories. Don’t forget this was after the detox. So I cranked my exercise. She told me an interesting one you can exercise. Once your over 40 doing marathons and all that bollocks damages your heart valves puts to much pressure on your joints etc
It should be interesting in the morning to see how I feel with the drop in Mirtazapine and the doubling of Pregalabin. So far I’ve felt good. We shall see. Thanks for the chat Mr obsession and the advice from N30. Time to feed Dexter the cat and I’m going to bed.
