Someone was telling me that around 2000 or 2001, purdue changed the oxycontin to make it a bit more difficult to abuse. Anyone else know anything about this? SWIM just sniffed one and they are from 1998. And quite dandy my friend said.
 
I've never heard anything of the sort, although I may be wrong. If they did do anything to make them more difficult to abuse then they failed miserably. I've snorted and shot 2001+ Purdue OC's on too many occasions, and they've done the trick just fine. If anything, Teva made their generics more difficult to abuse simply due to the fact that they're so difficult to break up. The new purdues are very simple to break up and work just fine.
 
Yea, I understand the Tevas are extremly different. I just didn't know if purdue has EVERY changed their oc formula.

the tevas arent that much different....they just gel up and are slightly harder to break down.
 
^^He's right. I might have exaggerated a bit because I prefer purdues. There have been times when I have bought the Teva's in bulk due to price difference from the purdues, and they've worked fine. They're just more difficult to break down than the purdues and I'm a picky bastard.

I've gone on and off of bupe. I got on it the day I quit OC, and stayed on it until I started this outpatient treatment program. They require I pass drug tests that test for all opiates and really aren't bupe friendly at all. Now I'm on Trazadone, Hydroxyzine, Tigan, and 2 Clonodine Patches for withdrawl symptoms. Been clean for 11 days, and have to stay that way for a little over 3 weeks longer.

Hmm i got Tevas 1 time and i hated the fuckers, i am a brandname guy so i will always ONLY buy prdues...
 
Well, if you're ever being charged rediculously more for the purdues and have access to the Teva's in bulk you might change your mind, unless you don't care about your money. I agree that I prefer purdues, but when the cash difference is as much as it's been around here, I start worrying about my pocket instead of the brand name. The difference isn't enough to pursuade me to spend that much unnecessarily.
 
^Yea, as I have said before I find the teva's indentical to the purdue's in potency, although from the posts on this site many would disagree with me. As you said, they are just a little harder to break down. Cheers
 
They made them more difficult to IV (they get waxy and shit when you add water) and of course more difficult to break apart.
 
The TEVAs are definitely harder, but not impossible to shoot. Though, that's not necessarily a good idea at all, I've shot oxy an uncountable number of times. I definitely prefer Purdues, as a matter of fact, I definitely notice a difference. On the other hand, the new Endos seem about equal. Fuck TEVAs though, honestly.
 
Well i snort em and the purdues are much small so i dont have to suck up half a ton of shit up in my nose like with the tevas...
 
SWIM has snorted LOTS of tevas. The tevas compared to purdues when snorted are only about 1/4th as strong.
 
^^^ I find that incredibly hard to believe considering that they contain the exact same amount of oxycodone. I think it's seriously in your head. I've talked to people who notice a slight difference, but only slight. It's just hard for me to understand that if you're snorting the same amount of oxycodone that it would only be 1/4 as stong. I've snorted them numerous times and honestly can't tell much of a difference at all, other than the fact that they're more difficult to break up.
 
^Agreed. Stayin Alive - There is no way they are weaker, it is the same drug. Now, if you aren't prepping your pills correctly for abuse then that could be the problem. Perhaps you were not crushing them well? There is no question that they are harder to abuse, so it may require a bit more to achieve desired effects but if done correctly then they should be the same. Cheers....
 
the reason people say the TEVAs arent as effective, is because they are snorting them.

like i mentioned above, the TEVA brand OCs DO GEL UP when around moisture....so when you break it down into a powder and snort it up your nose, its turning into a gel inside your nose and slowly releasing the oxy out of the wax.
if taken CRUSHED and orally, there is no difference between TEVA and name brand OCs....if taken as directed(pffft :) ) there is NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER.

i do not believe that the FDA requires generic equivalents to be the same when crushed/abused lol
 
actually, the IVAX brand ( 40's are yellow say abg one side/40 on other, are IDENTICAL to brand name purdues, there does not seem to be a single differece between them and the purdues, prolly cuz purdue produces them for IVAX lol. If you have to go generic, go IVAX DEF!
 
That's what they're planning on doing in the future (making the pills harder to abuse). Either way though I can guarantee that myself and many others will find a way to "abuse" OxyContin regardless of how they try to prevent it.
 
Even abusing the teva's is indentical for me. Everyone's technique is a little different for crushing and snorting pills, but when I have snorted 40mg of TEVA brand ocycodone it is almost exactly the same as the name brand. WHo knows....
 
Im not saying that there isn't as much drug in the tevas. Im just saying when administered nasally, you only absorb about 1/4 as much.
