Here's a little project I started with a few friends, we recorded it in my dining room, so don't expect wonderous quality (although we did use a Line 6 Pod 2.0 to record the guitars, so it's not like it's completely garage status). It's got a pretty heavy electronica influence, mixed with a bit of metal and a guitar solo thrown in for good measure.

A friend of mine said in reference to the demo,
"ROFL it sounds like KMFDM mixed with hair metal, its great"

I guess I'll take that as a compliment!

Anyway, here's the song: http://www.myspace.com/trevorandurisproject

Feedback and suggestions welcome.

my band just recorded a 5 song demo. I play all the percussion including tamborines and such. we are in suit of the Stooges, New York Dolls, New Bomb, etc. we have started playing tons of shows and the scene seems down with us. tell me what you think.

there will be no flaming of our fellow bluelighters musical skills, only constructive criticism.

unless its me of course. . .

I'd like to post feedback on all the bands so far, but I'm pressed for time, so I'll do the ones on this page and get back to the others later...

friend of mine is an exceptionally good guitar player, mainly into the classic rock style (he can probably play any zepplin or floyd song you can throw at him, and play them perfectly guy is pretty good)

.

To be fair, I only listened to the one song you suggested, here's my impression:

As far as "dick around mindless rock" goes it's not bad at all....not really my style of music, so I can't offer too much input. Overall I found it rather boring and mediocre.

I'm trying to find a way to tactfully say the vocalist can't sing.....but I can't. Overall it's not bad, but the vocalist really needs a lot of work. He needs to take lessons very badly. He's got the makings of a singer, but he doesn't know how to use his voice....

I'd tell them to keep plugging away at it, have their fun, maybe score with some chicks ect....but as far as becoming rock legends they shouldn't hold their breath.

I really don't know what to say in terms of constructive comments. I liked it alot, the production is pretty good and the songs generally avoid redundancy.

I do think on some of the songs, especially "dreamteam" the drums aren't sitting right in the mix. I prefer the drums to sit more "behind" the mix if you know what I mean, but that's really a matter of preference really.

awesome stuff, kudos

some mellowish and political hip-hop.

Again, not really my style....The beats are good, and the production is pretty good.

I can only say I found the lyrics a little sophmoric and immature....too much tough talk that I doubt you could really back up. Not much in terms of real political dialouge or substance...but that my personal impression, I like rap that makes me think, but I could see sitting back and smoking a blunt to this.

Pretty good, got me rocking out. It's nice to hear some guitar solos. Kind of generic, but that can be said of just about any band. Lemme know if you guys are looking to play in the Philly area, or if you plan on playing here.

check out my tunes at www.myspace.com/meteorstrikeforceone . i know im not very good at guitar yet but hey, let me know what you think anyways. check out jasmine remix. oh yeah, its all just me and an acoustic guitar. how do you like it? *puts on flame retardent gear*

Again, all I can say is keep up the good work. It's about what you'd expect from one guy and an acoustic guitar. It'd be cool if you could spice up your playing a bit. I also found the lyrics slightly heavy-handed, but you could also just say you're earnest.

this is a song a wrote, it doesn't have lyrics or anything (they are coming) but i'm currently experimenting with tone/rhythm... i don't know, check it out and let me know what you think. peace

It's not a finished song, so I don't feel right commenting on it really....The tone is pretty decent, the playing is a little sloppy. I'm not sure how it will be as a finished song, but as is I found it way too "noodle-ly" and lacking structurally. I'd like to hear it finished

I didn't review a couple people because:
a) I had to download the osng to listen to it and I'm lazy
b) The link didn't work when I clicked it....

so I guess it's my turn. This is my main band, which I play bass in. I guess you could call us political indie rock?

hey man, thanks a lot for taking that much time to listen to a lot of BL'ers bands and reviewing them. it seems like you have a good musical ear and in my crystal ball I see you becoming a top album reviewer for Rolling Stone! hahaha =D

anyways, my brother's band in Boston got a record/touring deal and their drummer is having a baby so it seems he is dropping out of the band. I am going to fill in for drums during the tour and record a new album for them. so far, we have only one song recorded with myself on percussion.

if you are a fan of 80's metal YOU HAVE to check out this song "Diamond Blvd"
and tell me what you think. we are getting signed to a decent label soon, sadly I am not at liberty to reveal that info ATM, but I would love love love some feedback from all of you.

most specifically Finder. how do you think the percussion sounds on that demo song?

DAHKTOHROH said:

at first I thought your band was far too abstract for me to enjoy, but I take that back. the vocals are interesting and a bit too avant-garde for my tastes, but your basslines are wicked. I would love to jam out together with myself on drums. your percussion seems a little bit too generic for the type of music I think you want to present.

but he is still perfectly solid. however, how about adding some more ghost notes on the snare?

also, I feel like you should use less acoustic guitar, but my opinion might be bias because rarely do I enjoy the sound of acoustic guitar.

Hi. I've been making music for about 10 years (i'm 21 now) and been completely in love with sound and all musical instruments since i was barely old enough to talk.

I've played various instruments in more bands than i can even recall in the time that i've been playing, but over the last 4 years or so, I've stuck with my solo work.

I love to record and overdub all the instruments i own and sing over them. Alot of my work is heavily influenced by drugs (which i do not condone). I've been reading this forum for years but only recently became a member and really enjoy reading everyones posts.

I would appreciate it more than anything if you gave the 4 songs on my myspace a listen and gave me your honest opinions. This music means the world to me and I think some of you may enjoy what you hear.

The page is hear http://www.myspace.com/itookadvantage

All the work is just me overdubbing instruments on my tascam 2488, even though in the picture you see three ppl. Those arfe two of my friends helping me out for a live show. please give me your feedback, thanks.

anyone in the Minneapolis area want to start an experimental, harder rock band? I play guitar, 15 years experience. I am 26.

if anyone is interested I will provide more details of what I am looking for.

Also I have an education in engineering and production. I have interned at some local studios and worked for engineers and producers that have had major acts as clients.

I would love to produce a demo or first album with a band. I would be happy to provide constructive advice to people with existing songs online that might want to improve them if you are hoping to one day get the attention of labels.

This is my newest output. It is semi-electronic and semi-organic. A bit hard to explain... most of it is hand-brewed, though there's an electronic base. Click to find out more. I am really curious what people think of this. Requires 15 minutes of your Earth time tough, be warned, Earthlings.

More stuff at www.myspace.com/crashzendo (it's a semi-organic semi-electronic hybrid, not sure if my post is welcome here but I thought I'd give it a try %) ;) )

Post your non-electronic recordings here!

Hi,

I am just getting into serious production , but I shy away from trance/electronic (for now)...

are thier any other people with recordings that are non-electro who would like feedback?!

I sure am ...

check out my recordings at

www.myspace.com/mormania

if you give me some constructive feedback, i will respond in kind.

thanx,
motiv
