^I went back and listened to that track, Catfish. Pretty cool and I generally don't go for that sort of thing. :)

FYI - please do not post any links in this thread containing music from artists who are not releasing their music for free.

Welp mine is free. I even leaked it onto the mp3 scene...:)

Finder, I appreciate the listen man. That track came out so fast, as if I was being guided by unseen forces. My most coherent and genuine sounding tracks always come that way though...thanks for listening my man.

Then why sing? 8(

I agree. There are so many ways that an instrument can act as the narrative element of a song. I love music that is instrumental, or that has nice instrumental sections between vocal parts. I especially love when bands have singers who sing without "real" language (i.e., sigur ros). With that said, I do think it is an issue worth struggling over when you make music. I have made mostly instrumental music in my own catalog of songs, but over time I often find lyrics that start to form around the melody lines certain instruments are playing. I find it easiest to tap into this level while listening to my songs as I drive. I love cars for the private sound room it gives you...but anyhow, it is always an issue worth considering...do you really need to sing? Does the music call for it? Are the vocals dancing well with the music...? If you can't make your voice work with the music, then find another way to tell the story. Use samples of yourself cut up, pitched and sequenced to go along with the song. Or if you can hear the lyrics and vocal line but can't quite nail it, then write the songs and find someone who will specialize in being the vocalist in the band. But then again, if you are totally feeling it with the lyrics, even if they sound bad, you always gotta follow yer bliss.

Funny you should say that....actually not funny, merely a chance for a shameless plug....I put up a new song at my myspace account called "....and Jesus wept". Also at my MP3.com.au account there is one called "So Sad" which are both lyrically vacant vocalisations over music which I like, I have done a better version of "So Sad" that I will put up but this one is the first ever take of it so I wanted to show it first.

Thx catfish for the friends add, do I have to add you to my friends for it to show up on yours too?

Links to both accounts in my signature.

Edit:- BTW, my artist chart position at MP3.com.au has gone to #5080 overall and #1572 in alternative charts....dunno if that is good or not? Anyone know?

Cheers.

Catfish I really like Mr. No-Go Goes No Mo, it's got a very fun bassline byow, byow, byow, byow and then the clean guitar over the top adds a sadness to it giving it texture. I can imagine *matryoshka dolls dancing around to it with upside down umbrella's raining out of the sky while a massive furry toy caterpillar weaves its way through them searching for his glasses which are stuck to a ball of sticky silk from his silk gland at his bum.

*matryoshka dolls are those bigger to smaller wooden dolls that fit inside each other. From big mamma to little baby, they're usually predominantly dressed in red and white. Achhhh who needs explanations right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll

Hah awesome comment dude. I took a listen to yer myspace songs. Pretty interesting guitar work. Reminds me of Pink Floyd in alot of ways. I will give you the official stream of consciousness listen later on tonight after I am out of the work mindset and more in the duuuuuuude mindset...

edit: btw, you show up on my freinds list on myspace. Only one person needs to accept the friendship for both to have the other show up in their freinds pile.

I should use mp3.com more often. I signed up a whil eback, but mostly I use this other site www.uberlabel.com. I am like #11 or so on the top artists list there...but I don't think that means much. My arch enemy on the charts is named Sly Boots. He's going down.

double edit: I just checked uberlabel after ignoring it for a couple weeks. Sly Boots has succumb to the juggernautic force of Catfish J. Rivers, esq. III. I am now ranked #8!!! woot. Dork party at my place tonight!

Good stuff buddy. Well done.:) You the Juggernaut bitch!!!

Yeah, I love Pink Floyd I think they have influenced my mindset a bit when freeballing ideas. Although I don't really know what band or artist I resemble the most, perhaps that's all for the best though.

I have uploaded about 20-25 songs on MP3.com but they are still on hold so I will let you know when they are available, most of them are 1-2 minute ideas so hopefully most songs will be over before you get bored of them.

Edit:- there's 37 songs of mine on MP3, and I still have about the same to snag from my tapedeck and record onto computer. Bleh, being somewhat prolific sucks somewhat.

Wutup? My name's Realm i've been recording music, specifically hip-hop for over 7 years now and wanted to get some thoughts on a track or 2. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out, all production is done by my label and vocals by me. Enjoy. http://www.myspace.com/realm305

mashup flaming lips + desty's child

I'm working on this mashup of the flaming lips and destiny's child for way too long now...I think I am losing track of whether parts work together at this point. I would love pointers on this, especially if you can give times of where you'd change something.

Do You Realize + Say My Name = Do You Realize My Name (you betta say it)

^^Hey man, that's very cool. Well done I actually love "Say my Name" Usually I hate all those type of "girl group R'n'B" acts however I think Beyonce has an absolutely brilliant voice, it's just a shame that the days of the black soul movement has been replaced by plastic MTV poptarts and faux gangstarrrrs. I'm sure if she was at her peak in the 50's and 60's she would be a legend by now. I like only like "Say my Name", "Survivor", "Independent Women", "Nasty girl" and "Bootylicious" but that is 5 "gay" songs too many for my mates to pass up a ribbing whenever I hear one of those songs in their company.

The only problem I have with your remix is the part starting from 1:02 "Prove yourself to me............to..........the Say my name" at 1:32. It seems like you struggled to find the desired background chords and the correct timing in the verbal cadence.

Good stuff man.
