Art Post some ART that you're feeling today - and why?

Lol. I suppose thats true. But then again I can't so much help it.

Alright, fine. Its a promo photo that I stumbled across but for some reason I kinda like it. Maybe its the perspective in it. See I told you...

Photorealism (Super-realism, Hyper-realism - whatever you want to call it) can be done by gridding off a canvas (or other painting surface) and a photograph, but that isn't necessarily always the case, and the grid is not only used in that situation. Often artists use plumb lines in their studio (hung from ceiling with a weight) to help line things up and keep proportions correct and use a grid on the canvas to achieve the same effect. While I can see why someone would take the, ''You might as well take a photo" view on that technique, photorealists don't necessarily just recreate a photograph. Many use a photograph as a reference point. It's also a way of capturing a moment that wouldn't lend itself to painting from life.

I didn't mean to go off on a tangent there, I definitely advocate learning to paint and draw from life because there are things that simply can't be learned from using photographic references, but once that is not an issue I see using photographs no different than any other tool for creating art. Sorry for the 'rant'.:o

I'm not denying the merit and value of photorealistic art. I'm certainly not knocking the technique nor the skill of the artists. It takes incredible talent and a lot of hard work to create that kind of work.

I'm moreso just sharing where that type of painting stands in terms of my own artistic preferences. It's not a reflection of the intrinsic value of that type of art, but more an expression of my own personal preference.

I don't think there's really any type of art that doesn't have value, or any hierarchy of relative artistic value. In my mind, all art is equal in an absolute sense. I only differentiate in terms of what I personally like.

firstly, i like this band (outbreak). but thats not entirely the reason why i like this artwork.
i think its fucking evil looking. muahahaha
