i checked out his flickr account which contains a lot abstract, surrealist, absurdist, stuff. yeah, i could see how this could be a mental patient (man on the left wearing simple smock) and the faces are representations of fears or undesirable mental states; demons you might say. distorted Jungian archetypes.

though, i'm sticking with my original theory on this. the blue, bug-eyed individual on the left is showing intense signs of humiliation. clad in mere negligee after getting caught in bed with another woman. the sweet blue-eyed blond situated in the mouth of the giant ogre is probably his former partner. the snarling, sneering, vitriolic crowd intoxicated with herd-poison.

Honest Ed’s is one of Toronto’s most famous retail landmarks. But it’s closing down at the end of this year, as a massive new rental development gets ready to move in.

So the nearby Toronto Transit station paid an homage to the store:

@mysterie; thank you so much for that video. What a disciplined and hard-working painter she is. I love that her imagery is so girl-world--everything from her palette to the Little Pony heads of shiny long hair. Definitely the Frida Kahlo influence comes through.
