I read some more about tattooing over keloid scars; apparently tattooing can cause the keloids to grow, also if you're prone to keloids just getting a tattoo or piercing normally can cause keloids.

I've had a couple of piercings and they healed relatively normally. I guess it could go either way.

Vanth:Just make sure that you are careful with new piercings, and if you see any signs of keloid's make sure you remove the piercing. Also try camomile once its healed properly.
Also, could the scarring in question be hypertrophic scarring?

blind_injustice: I'm pretty sure they're keloid, as they extend past the site of the injury, and haven't really faded in the 2 years since they turned up.

aww, thats no good. And surgical removal usually only makes em grow back bigger n badder.

Yeah, I've heard that. Hopefully I'll be able to do something about them with laser (the Intense Pulsed Light kind).

Or get a tattoo over them!

I like the tail in his mouth idea....kind of makes it like an Ouroboros (if I can find/design a dragon silhouette I like, I wanna get an Ouroboros Dragon myself at some point). Sort of works with the infinity symbol as well..?

Kat, my sister's got a tatt of mum's name on her shoulder blade with a couple of white feathers - I guess it depends on whether you want to actually be able to see it yourself or not.....eg: there's something specific I want to get on my back because it's important to me, but it's not something I want to have to look at every day either because it has some bad memories associated...

My dumb family saw my karmic circle today for the first time and wouldn't believe that it's real - I think they're still pretty convinced it's henna...tards. 8(

Not finished yet this is the result of the first four hour session. Lyndal is my baby's mum and partner of 6 years. I want to get all the roses coloured and shaded next time which is in around a month, also excuse redness it's only 1 day old there.

A lot of folks will do this purposely over cuttings they've gotten that have keloided well.

I don't ever usually post on this board but I was wondering...

Can anyone recommend some good tattoo artists/places in Melbourne? Someone good with fine detail?

I'm wanting to get a tat, something plant or vine like going up my arm, with the impression of growth. Maybe some shading but not much, and no bright colours.

Anyone know of anyone/anywhere good in Melbourne? Maybe a place with portfolios I can see online?
