I totally agree with you on the pleasant-feeling bit.....I found the whole thing really relaxing! These two I copied above are my favourites of the ones you posted....the color on those stars is awesome!! :D

^ I rekon its a great idea getting tats over scars.

I have seen some great tattoos over the chests of women who have had double masectomies and apart from the apparent lack of boobs, you can hardly notice the scars.
It seems a pretty common thing for cancer patients.

umm, I wont post it as an image, but here is the link to an image...

:D

getreal, did it hurt over the scars? I'm wondering if the scare tissue is either more sensitive or actually desensetised?

Either way, yours is a beautiful tattoo, the artwork is so fine, which is my preference for tattoos, unless they're blocky ones. :)

I want to get one done over my spinea-bifida scar, but its off centre of my back and kinda a weird shape. In the pic its not as dark as it usually looks, i think cause I have a tan, but now im a while arse its really noticeable.
Any suggestions?

The other alternative was to get it tattooed over skin colour, anyone ever had any experience with this?

They can never get the colour exactly right.

It will blend it in heaps, and people around you will notice it a whole lot less. Only those intimate with you would really know of the scar as they'd see it a lot more. But you'll always see it. That would irk me.

Getting a cool tattoo over it sounds cooler too me %)

Get a butterfly!

That's what all the creative chicks are doing!

If you have a butterfly in the small of your back I apologise for the offense!

No, it didnt hurt anymore than any tattoo EXCEPT I have metal in my back from the surgery and I 'winced' when he was in the metal area.
Thanks! I love it too!

Kind of like getreal posted right there? ;)

Does anyone know if you can tattoo over a keloid scar? (they're raised and pink) I figure you can't, but I thought I would ask.

You can tattoo over any kind of scarring (even the raised ones) - just that the effect varies from person to person. I've seen it horribly done, I've seen it done really well. Blackscale work is generally best though - colours are a no go (imo) with that kind of thing.

While we are on the topic, what about moles?
I have hundreds of moles on my back and arms which is unfortunate because I would love to get covered in tats.

Thinking about it I guess the only reason why you couldnt tattoo over a mole is that it would be harder to keep an eye on it to see if its changing shape and colour.

When I got my tat, he just positioned the stencil so that he avoided the moles on my arm.

Any thoughts?

:D

Oh, really? I assumed it would distort the tattoo or something.

Thanks Jaza, I will look into it further. :)

Not really - just a different type of work with the needle. So not only will you need a good artist, but you'll need one comfortable enough with said needlework. From memory the needle doesn't go as deep on the whole, but I'm no expert.

At a guess I'd say that tats over scar tissue may deteriorate with ageing skin quicker than a standard tat - but when you're 50+ you must accept they're gonna start to go anyway.

no, although i saw an awesome episode of miami ink where someone who had overcome cancer got a tattoo over one of their scars of a cartoon image of "them" fighting "cancer". it was one of the most amazing and heartfelt tats ive ever seen. perhaps something thats relevant to you dealing with your illness could be appropriate/empowering? good luck either way

Hmm.. thats a fantastic idea! Thanks! Now all I have to do is think of something hehe.
My first thought was to get a horse, my horse, he helps me alot building muscles in my back to make me stronger, when im not riding regulary (now) I get really sore. But horses/ponys are so over done!
