Poppy tea is the fucking devil

I started experimenting with poppy pods recently, not much, cup of tea here and there, pretty soon once a day, then 3-4 times a day, now I'm trying to get off these fuckers and its hell, Ive had withdrawals from heroin that weren't like this.

When I started I figured how much harm could it do, some shit thats legal that you can order over the internet ... well now I know ... just a word of caution to people thinking about getting into them, not saying don't do em, but if you cant keep it to once or twice a week you'll end up in a world of hurt.

On another note, anyone experienced with pods have some advice for withdrawal? I have a 4 mg a day script for klonopin but they barely phase me anymore .. got hookups for pain pills but seems the withdrawals from the pods last forever ... Ive been a week without and feel worse now than day 2 or 3 ... anytime Ive kicked pills or heroin after the first 2-3 days I'm good ... still feel like shit but I can maintain ... nothing like this shit ... havent eaten in 4 days cuz I just throw everything up ...

You're experiencing morphine withdrawal. It can take two weeks to clear or more. Or less. Some die-hard opiate fiends can answer better than I

My suggestion would be to get some Opiates in the pill form, find out what dose of whatever you can score gets your WD pain manageable and taper yourself off.

Stay clean of everything till the WDs get unbearable, then take the dose you already figured out you needed, then wait till it is unmanageable again, then take half that does, so on and so on.

Thats actually not how I taper but you get the idea. I have a more specific day by day taper plan that really works for me on one of my first posts in a thread about hydro withdrawal if you wana look for it (it is only designed for someone in a pretty deep hole though).

Anyway, judging by your H use I'm sure you already know what I'm saying but I would treat the tea like opiates like H and pills. I had a similar problem with the tea and it worked the same way any other opiate I have done did.

Goodluck man.

Well I have some hydros here .. 7.5 hydro with 200 mg ibuprofen .. I have to take about 6 of them just to feel "ok" ... I'm usually good at dealing with withdrawals guess I just underestimated pod tea ...

I read somewhere that each pod can contain 20-80 mgs of morphine depending on the strain, size, etc. They also have a shitload of other alkaloids, thebaine, codeine and like 40 others I cant think of right now ...

I won't be underestimating them in the future ... nothing like cold sweats, cramps, shitting, puking all at the same time.

You said it bro, pod tea is the MOTHER of all teas, a real Dragon, it torments to no end. Nothing to fool around with.

Actually, the thing with poppy tea is that you are withdrawing not only from morphine, but also codeine, thebaine, papaverine, and about fifty other psychoactive alkaloids, each of which has its own unique grasp on your receptors.

Poppy tea withdrawal is HELL, especially if you have a significant habit. It takes a few days to even start, the GI issues are insane, and it lasts a LONG time, several times longer than heroin withdrawal, for instance.

The good news is, buprenorphine provides a more-than-adequate substitution for all those alkaloids. The transition from poppies to bupe is pretty smooth, and the bupw will be much, much easier to kick.

Get some Suboxone. :)

This is exactly what I was about to post. You're not only dealing with morphine, but a whole host of unwelcome guests (well, unwelcome when trying to kick at least) that make pod tea such a complicated (symptom-wise) challenge to break free of. As this postee said, the stomach problems are insanity. If you can't get your hands on prescription meds for the stomach issues (for some reason rantinidine (zantac I believe) helped with the sour-stomach feeling I had for a few weeks after cessation) I'd hit up come malox or tums to coat your stomach, as what you said about keeping anything down can really be a challenge. Best of luck, it's amazing to think for something most people wouldn't think to be hardcore, how much the w/d's feel otherwise.

ugh...sour stomach is the worst. I was eating tums like no other, and this was after just 1 week of regular poppy tea usage.

I agree, there's nothing quite like a sour stomach/messed up GI system to really make you feel (on top of all the other w/d symptoms) that your body is rotting from the inside out. Next to any other physical symptom of opiate withdrawal, except for maybe restless legs and not being able to sleep because of them (no matter how much potassium I was kicking back), the stomach issue was at the top of my personal discomforts. I hate internal pain like that, I'd take cuts, scrapes and bruises anyday over my guts flip-flopping about, having a shogun showdown without my approval.

I can feel for you ... I was addicted to the shit for 1 year, worse then heroin addiction in my opinion, but I went to detox and got plenty of meds (diazepam, phenobarbital, ativan, zolpidem, and anti-diarhea meds) there to help me get through my withdrawals for 3 weeks.

Yeah, it's the poppy tea that is the devil, not your lack of research of what you put into your body 8)

It's people like you that are going to ruin it for everyone else - thanks a lot!

Don't tell people to "man up" when it comes to experiencing withdrawal or similiar. That's not cool. Everyone's discomfort and pain thresholds are different.

i got the same thing goin on with seed tea. after two days of abstinence i start sweating and body aching all the time, can't concentrate etc etc
i guess im on a kilo every 2-3 days, which sounds like alot now that i write it down.
does anyone think w/d's will take two or more weeks like pods?

im afraid if i visit a doctor they'll just shake their head at me. but then again, with that attitude, they probably will

i find it so surprising when i hear about people,
who get addicted (to anything) so easily.

that'd be rubbish.

Absolutely, people's withdrawal symptoms aren't all the same. It could be their first time kicking it, or their 50th. The OP already knows he's going to have to deal with a world of shit, and I honestly don't see what "manning up" is going to fix about feeling like you're going to die. Some people say "man up" because they've only had to kick a couple times in their life and think just because it only laster a couple days for them it'll be the same for anyone else. That's anything but true.

For all you poppy tea drinkers, how does poppy tea add up to oxycontin snorted or heroin (black tar) smoked? I'm looking for a comparison of the strength and effects of the high. A brief summary will do, thanks.

^it's like taking morphine IR... But it lasts allll day long, which is what got me more addicted to it then heroin, or oxy. Like someone else said it's like over-the-counter methadone. But I dont blame the drug, it was my own stupidity and ignorance that got me into that situation and I loathe it.

man i learned the hard way. funny thing is i would binge from thursday to sunday and id be fine. the 2nd week i did the same and thats when the wd's came. they would start on tuesday and man i felt like shit. light fever, diarrhea, panic attacks! horrible....
