Sorry if I gave an impression of arguing, and yes I did stray from topic with the "pure agonists are better than pod tea".
To the original poster, like i said before, using a coffee grinder is much better than the hammer/bag method, it makes the powder much finer, creating more surface area that will increase the results of your extraction. Also, it is important to measure the fine powder in grams, this is a far more accurate way of dosing than counting the # of pods. If you dont like the pod tea, try making some pod putty. You use the same method to make the tea; use a coffee grinder to get a fine powder, simmer the powder in a good amount of water (the more the better) for less than 10 minutes, add lemon juice (or use those plastic shaped lemons that contain concentrated extract), pour the whole mess, grounds and all, into the glass french press container and let it cool down a little, then press down with the plunger a couple times, and try to squeeze out as much juice as you can. Pour this onto a flat clear glass baking plate or dish, or even a glass casserole container. If you want, you can boil the used grounds again, and repeat the process in the french press. Pour all the solution into your glass baking dish, and put it on a hot plate, at a low temperature, untill all the water evaporates (this can take many hours, especially if you have a large volume of water). If you dont have a hot plate, you can improvise one on your stove, just take a big metal pot, turn it upside down on the burner, so the bottom of the pot is facing up, and place the glass dish on this metal surface, using the lowest amount of flame possible. This upisde down pot seems to distribute the heat relatively evenly, and works as a crude hotplate.
Once all the water is evaporated, scrape up the resin with a razor blade, and roll it into a ball. If its too gooey and sticky, add a little bit of fine pod powder to act as a binding agent, which makes it easier to work with and doesnt stick to your hand as easily. So once you have your black ball, you can actually eat it as is, or dissolve it in a small amount of ethanol (or vodka) and make a tincture. For some reason, it doesnt work too well for smoking purposes, but when i tried it my tolerance was too high to tell if the smoke was getting me high. It worked better orally, or dissolved in alcohol. 10 grams of pod powder yeilded approximately 1-1.5 grams of putty. This may be more work, but its not as bad as drinking a big cup of pod tea, although i dont think the tea is that horrible tasting. I'd be interested in what would happen if someone with no tolerance smoked this putty. I still think it would work better orally, or at least i had more sucess this way. If you want to smoke it, you might be able to dissolve it in ammonium hydroxide (household ammonia, though lab grade is preferable), then re-evaporate it using the glass dish/hotplate method, which would probably result in some sort of freebase form of the putty. I havent tried this, but it probably would work to increase its smokability.
