Police: Man loses stepson, 6, after drug buy

A Lehigh County man told Philadelphia police officers at 4:30 Saturday morning that he couldn't find his Subaru or his 6-year-old stepson, according to police.

He flagged officers down in the 3400 block of Collins Street in West Kensington and explained: He left the boy in the car to go buy some drugs, police said.

Dino Vicente, 31, of 7300 block of Main Street, Coopersburg, was "very hostile, confused and incoherent," according to a police report.

Two hours later, police found the boy and the car about a half-mile away, in the 2000 block of East Clearfield Street.

They seemed to be where they had been left, police said.

The child was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital, found to be in good condition, and given over to his mother.

Vicente was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person. No drug-related charges were filed.

What a shitty step dad, leaving the kid by themselves to go buy drugs then losing them! This prick deserves to have some sort of charges filed imho.

oh - my - god

And I was thinking someone jacked the car with the kid in the back and ditched it when he saw the bugger in the back... but no, World's Best Dad didn't remember where he parked! You can't make this shit up lol

I agree Dragynfyr, that shit is absolutely ridiculous. What bad parenting...I think they should have charged him with something, a 6 year old was basically left to take care of itself in the middle of the night in a bad area...what is this world coming to...

Wouldn't it be GREAT to find out the KID knew the asshole was off scoring drugs and leaving him there and decided to throw the car into gear and coast it down the street a couple blocks just to fuck with him?

Yeah, I was expecting a stolen car with a kid in it story.

This was at 4:30 am. And if anyone is familiar with that neighborhood, it's not very safe to say the least. I feel for the kid, not just because he got left in a car at 4:30 am in a horrible neighborhood when his father was scoring drugs, but because this is probably the tip of the iceberg of what the kid has to deal with.

"Hey yeah I was just buying some drugs and I seem to have misplaced my child and vehicle, officer."

Wow dude I can't believe that, he must have been fucked up or something to forget where he parked the car and that poor kid. I wouldn't even bring anyone with me to get drugs especially if they are young like that. Even if they are older too I think it's wrong to put anyone in that kind of situation because if you get pulled over and busted everyone in the car gets the punishment. Not fair to them.

sometimes sober people don't remember where they parked after doing an errand

just keepin it real :P

^ if there is no babysitter at home, and the kid is nowhere near the drug deal (as in this case), where else is he gonna put the kid? and whats wrong with the kid waiting while the guy purchases something? just because that something is illegal, the kid shouldnt be around when it is purchased? what about a kid in the car when his dad goes in the liquor store or a gas station for cigs?

^
The main issue is the time this took place and where it took place.

Like I said earlier, that neighborhood is rough for an adult during the daytime. Let alone a kid left unattended in a car at 4:30 am!

Also, there's no indication of what he was buying. And it's safe to assume that he was going to drive with his kid in the car right after he scored and got high. :\

If you dont have a place for the kid then put your drug buying on hold or get a friend to do a run for you. Besides people get killed buying illegal drugs all the time, not so much cigs and liquor mang.

Why didn't they charge him for any drug related crimes?

I mean, he straight up admitted what he was doing. In most places, that is a solid conspiracy charge, at least.

u are clearly not from philly......north philly and kensington are reallllly bad neighborhoods, cops don't really give a shit about drugs as long as u ain't shootin at em, theres been like 6 cops shit in philly this year.......this guy is a fucking idiot

oh, i didnt know he was buying $1000 or more worth of drugs from some shady people. where is that in the article? since the cop didnt charge any drug related crimes, i assumed it was a small amount aka not the amount people would pull out a gun for
