Hello,
I have scoured the web for resources to help me and I feel that this is the appropriate spot to look for assistance.
I was in an accident and have been taking hydrocodone 4x 7.5/325 per day for about a year and in that time my tolerance has gone up and the effectiveness of the drug has gone down. I recently have moved my monthly dr appointment up a couple of times to bridge the gap when I run out. I have told the doctor that it is less effective and that I need more and he analyzed my my appointments and told me that he would not accomadate the dosage.
He said that it looks like this is high risk and I need to stay on 4, if I move my appointment for any future dates he will drop me as a patient.
For the past couple of months I have taken 5 per day and then taken less until my appointment. The logic there is, I would rather be in pain for 2 weeks then 4 so it seems a reasonable option. My question/problem is, how should I approach getting bumped up to 5 per day without causing any further concern. I want to stay with my doctor and I don't want to suffer for a 2 week period every month with pain.
The reason I want to stay with my doctor is because I have seen 3 pain doctors in the past year and he has been the only one that has prescribed something that works, the others want to give me epidurals and tens units with arthritis medication, none of which are effective. I don't want to move off of the hydro because they are effective for me and lets face it, the side effects aren't displeasant
.
Sorry for the run on sentences and thanks for your time reading. Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
