Brown speckled elephants, circa 99/2000. Everyone felt weird on them, and the perennial 'smack in the pills' talk did the rounds. I, along with a few mates, really enjoyed them, though the kids we hung about with (the same ones who took to pips as soon as they came around) certainly didn't. Anyway, one day there's an article in the paper about a guy dying on them. Needless to say, before the day was out a younger and less wise version of myself was at the dealer's door offering to take all that he had off his hands...

Any idea what was in them? I suspect DXM was a possibility, but it's so long ago that it could have been anything. If anything though, this thread has made me pine for MDA rather than Mandy. Those imaginary magazines were really, really fun to read!

yip snowballs were the strongest i have ever had, but they were not mdma
 
I got into crystal MDMA around 2002 onwards and was popping pills from about 97/98. Not had any pills in recent years but the crystal I have had feels pretty similar. I think so much of the experience still depends on set and setting rather than just mg's as was previously said and the waning novelty could be what makes it appear as though the 'old days were the best'.

Having said that, what's the verdict amongst those more chemically minded on the possibility of MDMA being made somewhat differently these days? Is itpossible to have MDMA but of a lesser quality? Seems unlikely, I always tended to think that it was either MDMA or not.

I do know that around 2003 in london I was knocking out some 200mg+ gel caps that made everyone appear very happy. Being on the receiving end of a face that just bought 1/5g of MDMA for 5quid is a priceless memory!

I am sure it's nothing to do with the MDMA or pills, but rather a combination of tolerance and novelty.

Even when I was off my tits in Ibiza in 2008, my more experienced caner friends were asking me if I was rushing, they had taken double as much and felt nice but wasn't where I was. I also remember in the early days you could still rush like fuck several times in the same holiday on near consecutive days.

The rushes were secured further by the novelty and awe of the overwhelming environment (say amnesia in ibiza, and I rekindled some of it this year). It's little wonder people that do pills down the pub get bored quicker, the pills are and should be a catalyst to enhance an already amazing experience -- not taken gratuitously.

Leading on from the gratuitous point; I often dab MDMA to very lightly enhance a club/social experience (rather than going for fucked). I'm sure this has increased my tolerance still further.

On the positive side though I have noticed that my comedowns are almost non-existent these days. In the early days I would have a fuzzy head and very noticeable social anxiety. Much of this was down to my paranoia of people judging me (now I don't give a fuck). But I personally think there is a relationship between how fucked you get and the comedown, rather than how much you take and the comedown (point being I don't get that fucked now due to tolerance).

This is brings me to another point. I too noticed that the comedown on the green recycles and the pink diamonds was far less severe than I expected. It was barely noticeable even. Now this type of comedown is completely different to the E's of old, eg. 1996-9. Back then you got twice as high and as a result the comedown was twice as bad. These current ones don't get you nearly as high but have a far less marked recovery process. I am aware that MDMA loses its magic compared to when you first try it, but this new synthing route has left us with a milder less stimulating molecule. I would be fascinated to know why this is. The pills also seem smaller. Looks like I've awakened some interest in this subject, so it's not just me who thinks this. I understand that the youngsters on here can't compare, so whyt they're telling me I'm wrong leaves me a little confused. They're just young I guess. :\

You've aroused my curiosity, but I'm not convinced yet =D

Like I say, for me as an older user, I got one hell of a rush from a couple of VW's. Even if it's not the same (jury's on tea break), I like very much <3
 
I remember the strength/quality of pills getting lower around 96 ish also. Before this time one pill was all I took in a night and that was enough. Then they got weaker and you needed more, it was just after leah betts died, I wonder if the pressers made weaker pills because of the bad press that ecstasy was getting at the time ?

Read my post a page or so back, i'm thinking this could easily be the reason.
 
I've been taking pills for about 9 years,so don't know if I'm classed as an experienced user,I never had any 90's pills obviously,but do any of the older users know what sort of mg's of MDMA would've been in these 'stronger' 90's pills? The likes of the doves and the first mitsi's? Seems at the minute in the uk a high dose pill would probably be considered around 120mg. Was this the case in the pills from the 90's?

1992 snowballs 200 mg of mda, 1 would floor you.....
 
I don't think 1990's pills were any stronger with regards to dosage amount. I took 5 and a half of the pin k diamonds which would easily equate to 350-400mg - hardly a low dose. Also sickness seems to be prevalent when coming up. They also made me and my mate extremely tired. our pupils were dilated, but not fully so. Compare this to back in the day when we used to check our pupils out in the club toilets and literally see no iris at all.

Yeah, I remember thos mitsis in 1999-2000. They were mega strong, but still slightly different from the sunshines, rolexes and swans of old. Very possibly the mid nineties ones had mixtures of MDEA, MDA and speed, along with MDMA. Like I say, I took a blue chanel this Summer hust gone in Amsterdam. The marquis went a deep purple and the effects were so much more profound than the current ones. I'm sure that the Chanel was a synth from Saffrole - certainly the real real deal. Glad these are about though. I'll just have to expect less from them so I don#t get disappointed.

Yeah mate!! My 1st pill! Me and my best mate SHARED one at a club, he was so floored another mate had to carry him to the toilet... :)
