Pet Peeves ver. Fjones vs Redleader

yea bikes on the sidewalk are not a good idea. i remember riding on a bike lane somewhere that was actually part of the raised sidewalk, but it was clearly painted and signs posted for it's use. that seems safer for all parties involved, motorists, pedestrians, cyclists...i wonder why more cities don't do that. oh that's right, cities going broke nationwide don't get bailouts. that is my pet peeve. that and hearing the words "economy" ,"plan", "change", & "Obama". In all honesty, soap operas don't interest me.

My pet peeve right now, as I am sure it is for man Americans, is seeing these companies get government bail outs and then still give their CEOs mutlimillion dollar bonuses.

Why do you get a multimillion dollar bonus for being responsible for driving your company into bankruptcy??? If I lost my boss billions or trillions of dollars, I would be FIRED, not rewarded.

Hell, when I was working retail, if my drawer was short more than $5 on three occasions, I would be fired!

Okay, I fucking hate bicyclists on the road.. I realise some places that is a normal occurance, I realise that in some places its illegal to bike on the sidewalks, and I also realise that its some peoples only means of transportation... I don't care, it still bugs me. It just does. Probably in my top 3 pet peeves. I just hate it when I'm in a hurry and some bicyclist is in front of me is going 10mph, I wish I could run them over. I also hate how I get paranoid that I will hit them when they are on the side of the road (unless there is a specific biking lane in which case I obviously don't mind). Sorry to all you bicylists out theres.. I know, I'm a gas guzzling jerk lol. It's one of those anoyances I know I shouldn't have but I just do.

This is a serious one: I hate when people make jokes about skin cancer. Like when girls fry themselves daily at the tanning bed, and joke about how they'll get melanoma one day. It's NOT fuckin funny, cancer is not a joke... if you actually *had* melanoma or knew the suffering that someone with it goes through, you wouldn't take it so lightly. For some reason,a lot of people just don't take skin cancer seriously and it pisses me off.

commercials that don't give you any hint really as to what they are about but then give you a website...as though you will not be able to continue on until you have figured out what jdhfsdjhskhf.com is!

Especially when these are played on the radio and you are nowhere near a computer and by the time you are, you don't even remember the commercial to begin with.

I am confused. Are you objecting to the people who bring it up, or to the fact that they bring it up at the wrong time?

Because when it comes to people, those who insist on "hanged" instead of "hung" are correct.

Most "ize" words are pretentious bullshit. Why does everything have to be "finalized?" Can't we just FINISH or COMPLETE something?

I have fake parking tickets that can be given out. They look like parking tickets but imply that the person is an asshole douchebag failure for his parking

Not to worry. I'm back from hiatus. :) I was packing and moving for a week.

Redleader has done quite well in my absense. The bitterness is strong in this one. :\

I live in Ohio. Obviously it's less dangerous to ride a bike on a sidewalk here (suburbia Ohio) than in Chicago, and I don't think there should be uniform laws.



Now I am not about to give my specific jurisdiction (haha though Finder could pull my ISP 8o ), but it took me a good half hour to figure out that it's LEGAL here (but not a rule).

I stand by my Peeve. If someone follows the traffic laws on a bike and rides responsibly, then that's one thing. I'm talking more about when I'm making my midnight taco bell run through the suburbs, and some 14 year old kid is doing zig-zags across the street on one of those tricked up bikes. Even 25mph and 0.00BAC ain't going to necessarily keep that kid safe.

So I get paranoid, and start seeing imaginary kids on bikes, ready to zoom out in front of me. Kind of like how after I had a few close calls with deer, I see them on the sides of the roads when they likely aren't even there.

I grew up in NYC, and the bicyclists there are INSANE. They make sudden moves all over the place, be it sidewalk, street, whichever. They make turns in the roads against traffic, and go the wrong way on one way streets, making an already difficult task driving in NYC) even more difficult.

Pedestrians in NYC are also really annoying. If I have a green light, GET OUT OF MY WAY! Don't glare at me for coming too close to you! I did that so that maybe next time you'll get the fuck out of the street! See that sign that sayd "DON'T WALK?" The operative word there is "DON'T!"

Wait, no, they repalced the walk and don't walk years ago with pictures of a hand or a person walking. Either way, get out of my way. I have a rare green light and I am not going to miss the light because of you.
