I'm not into EDM at all. I predominantly listen to doom metal, Primus, and Pink Floyd. I have a hard time digging music that doesn't have a string instrument in it somewhere.

Interesting ahah, doom metal and Primus... I'm mostly a fan of late 60's psychedelia (there's so much that I haven't got much need to move on to newer music) but also I like to listen to newer psychedelic bands like I dunno... Spiritualized, Animal Collective, stuff like that. I don't see much of that happening on here, but Laika's tale of meeting AC blew my mind to say the least

I stumbled across this the other day... I think they're from New Zealand. This is kinda the style I like to see in modern bands, and certainly intrigues my aural senses:

I realize PD represents a very small segment of society... but I don't vibe with almost ANY of the music tastes here. It makes me feel alone sometimes, like if I was ever able to find a good psychedelic community in real life, they'd just wana bump electronic edm type stuff... psytrance... whatever they call it these days. I feel so old sometimes, when I know I'm younger than many of the people on here who rave about the electronica.

I appreciate a massively diverse range of genres, from the DnB/Trance/Psytrance/Hardstyle/House of EDM through to metalcore, some death metal, progressive metal, symphonic/melodic metal, rock, punk, acoustic rock, some rap (like the older Eminem/D12 stuff), a little bit of Aussie hip hop...hahaha but yes I do agree the hardstyle such as in that video is....yeah. Not my thing haha.

i used to be into hardstyle, when i was about 17
i cant do hardstyle or hardcore anymoar mane, i lol when i hear it
it just seems like such juvenile music to me, like dnb is so much more sophisticated if you ask me (aside from jumpup)
like when i think hardstyle now this is what i see

that and the one comment made me almost fall out of my chair

See, what I don't understand is that there's apparently different sub-genres of EDM... and they all sound pretty similar to me. They all seem generic and just don't get my spirit a' vibratin'. I plan to go to some EDM gatherings of some sort soon since my best friend is real into them... but I hope we take MDMA or some stim over LSD. I don't personally believe L and EDM go together.

Ya, take MDMA. I can enjoy electronic music while on MDMA, though neither EDM nor MDMA are usually my thing. But for psychedelics I need some sort of psychedelic rock/metal.

i got the whole hardstyle is juvenile and unsophisticated idea from listening to nothing but hardstyle for a year, and going to see angerfist and seeing what kind of people are into hardstyle (HINT: parachute pants, all black clothes, men wearing eyeliner)
i'm good, i prefer to listen to music that isn't mostly listened to by people who look like they cut themselves.

right in dnb you got mofos like goldie, or LTJ bukem, putting otu real mellow, intelligent sounding stuff (ex. LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression vol 1, Goldie's Timeless....classics)
but then you got mofos who just straight GO HAM (ex. Bad Company, Dom and Roland, Tech Itch, old Dieselboy)
and then you got just funny party stuff (ex. TC, Original Sin, Hazard, Taxman)
there is no "intelligent" hardstyle the way there is with dnb

I like trap and future bass and soulection, and I fucking love Mr. Carmack beyond reason.

the closest thing to hardstyle I ever liked was big chocolate. However, when trap was first coming out in 2012 I became a kandi kid and became obsessed with Hucci and loudpvck. Looking back on some of that shit totally makes me facepalm, especially the parts where I was constantly abusing ritalin and being a crazy manic asshole at shows trapping and freaking the fuck out every time a song I knew came on. Drum and Bass is pretty sick but I mainly like glitchier stuff like aphex twin and squarepusher because a lot of dnb is really repetitive.

nowadays I just go to the EDM shows with speaker systems that are 150,000 watts-- no matter who is performing I'll enjoying being vibrated from head to toe by sound. Super Loud Bass + Psyches/Dissociatives/Empathogens = best synergy evar.

Tycho is like post rock EDM with a live band, couldn't recommend them more.

I ain't even mad. I just think you act like you're superior to other people too much and you're very judgemental.... especially when you have no room to talk. There are many respectful genres of electronic dance music. Not just drum n bass (and every group has their own set of douchebags and weirdos). Stereotyping one entire group of people because of the genre they listen to is ridiculous.
