was having a pretty dissociated train of thought a little earlier, thinking about tripping and thinking about my ex-girlfriends and possible future girlfriends. and i started thinking about tripsitters. which is one of the most commonly touted harm-reduction methods, but also one of the least-utilized. and you PD folk crossed my mind, and i had a thought about Xorkoth -- i know your girl said she is interested in drugs but not necessarily interested in DOING them -- maybe she is meant to be your tripsitter rather than your trip partner?

She does do drugs sometimes, she wants to do mescaline with me sometime for example. She just bought a one-hitter, she doesn't smoke much but does sometimes. I don't need a trip sitter either, I've tripped around her before and she knew it, and it was cool. She's had a number of trips in the past.

ugh
i wanna smoke some marihuana
the devil weed
but i cant
this is unfair
or even some K2
cause K2 makes dnb sound fucking cray cray mane
i mean so does weed
but k2 makes everything cray cray

Okay, I finally got these jams on Youtube and made a playlist... here's the link if you want to hear it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV1KALyL9ZU&list=PL4Yjm_IJoMSlNq-FHU5snNHhKDJrdnKa2

The first 3 (labeled To and Sal jams) are the most recent jams, we did them a day after the next 4 (labeled Dean jams). Also with some different people (extra guitarist and different drummer), and the best drummer that plays with us. I'm playing djembe on the first 2 and nothing on the third one but it's good so I included it. The 2nd Sal and Tom jam is my favorite. The lead guitar and bass are the same for all of them.

Then the next 4 are the jams with a different drummer Dean... the second one is my favorite for sure, I played the keyboard and it was my first time jamming on keyboard. It starts a little shaky but it becomes really beautiful. Actually it inspired the feeling of the 2nd Tom and Sal jam. Then the 3rd Dean jam I'm singing. I'm playing djembe for the rest.

I hope you like them. The djembe is pretty quiet on the first two but it's creating some great polyrhythms with the set drummer. Good headphones or speakers would be ideal. This is unmixed, my friend didn't have time to put much work into the recordings before I left but I think they sound good as-is.

does anyone else love this song as much as I do? I've listened to it like 6 times in a row now. It starts so slow and simple but by two minutes in it sounds like the piano is crying tears of joy. 8o It seriously sounds like pure passion condensed into piano notes. It sounds like someone having an emotional breakdown about something they care about more than if they live or die. During the loud parts I just wanna sob and be like, 'it's so beautiful!' I've been trying to share this song with someone all night but it doesn't seem like anyone else likes it as much as me.

edit: xork i'm listenin to yo jamz, very pleasant so far. Sounds like you got some hand drum chops, if I were you i'd consider getting one of the loud ones, like mine

Oh I LOVE that song. :) Thanks. In the jams, the second track and the 5th are my favorite. The first one is a little repetitive until halfway through. But cool djembe rhythms.

Xorky, loving the jams. :) I'm on the keyboard one now, which is what I wanted to hear the most since Keyboard would be my instrument of choice as far as what I could bring to the table in a group of musicians. But I still have the dream that one day I'll be amazing at guitar.
You say it starts off kinda rocky, but imo that's the best, the first half you were tearing it up. It never lost its flavor but really I think the keyboard playing in the first half was the best. Not to discredit the latter part of your keyboard playing.
It sounded like someone else was using a synth in there at times but maybe it was just a guitar going heavy on the effects.

You should post them in NEMD's "Post Your Recordings" thread. Unless it's something you only want to show PD Social for now, which I would understand if you're self conscious about your new music. Lord knows I have a hard time sharing my recordings, personally.

Thanks! Oh wow, interesting observation. My favorite part is the middle where I start playing chords, it filled out the jam so much. I think the chords were beautiful and they were just coming out of me with very little thought, and in so many cases it worked out really well. Me and the guitar were chasing each other back and forth, echoing, etc. He uses a lot of pedals to produce effects, so no synth. It adds a lot to our jams. He also uses a loop pedal and usually has a loop going that he plays over. Sometimes it's so effect-heavy I can't tell what's the loop and what's not.

To be honest I'm really surprised at myself that I played so well on keyboard, because although I did play classical piano from age 8 to 19, I hadn't touched one in quite a few years at all, and I sat down and fiddled for 15 minutes and then got convinced to jam on it... really glad I did. :)

Yeah I like sharing with you guys because you're my PD family. :) Maybe not ready to share elsewhere yet.

And I also have the dream of one day being amazing at guitar. I've been doing other instruments and other things with my time so it's VERY slow going... almost not at all. I've had some lessons from my friends and I have a guitar.

I have about 10 guitars. From electrics, to acoustic 12 strings. Some were inherited, some were bought because of the "dream."
If anyone who didn't know me saw my studio room they would think I surely play guitar though, lol.

But yeah, keep up the jams dude. I really wish I had people to help motivate me into playing or at least trying harder and not caring about how shitty it sounds when we press record.

Yeah I'm really lucky to have close friends who are totally into music and have a band already. It's a real blessing, they basically had a serious talk with me one day and said I should start jamming with them. They knew I wanted to get back into music and they could hear me singing and drumming on myself throughout our friendship. I bought a djembe and now it's all falling into place. :) I knew if I just started doing it, I'd get back into it organically.

Used to have myself an entry level Yamaha electric 4 string bass, though I simply didn't have enough time I wanted to put into it to improve on my average abilities, and as a result of being somewhat average, when I DID play/practice, it just wasn't very enjoyable :(

I REALLY wish it wasn't so much of a learning curve to get into creating well, any kind of EDM with a midi keyboard and appropriate software (FL studio etc)

Damn Xorkoth, I'd totally pay to see y'all jam at a festival! I'm loving it! Is there any chance you could send me links with 320kbps mp3s or .wavs? I'd like to squirrel them away for my next LSD trip :P

i figured out that on LSD i need to put mixes on because i cant select tracks.
like i'll be like YEAH I WANNA HEAR THIS (song going through my head) and then i draw a blank when i'm like
ok wahts it called
that and someone else picking the tracks is refreshing, to be outta control ya know, but mane dog
i gotta start dropping L at parties. i swear i can dance moar on L than I can on MD for realz
at least around my house.
L+amph/methamph seems like the ideal LMZ party combo

i swear these MCs got way moar bars than most rappers mane
i wish i could MC.
i'd wanna do it in a london accent though
and i dotn think i could do a good south london accent

IMO, being an MC for your chosen genre (hardstyle for me) would be incredible, second only to being the lead act DJ for the night :) hell, it may even be better - you're up there for much more than just one set most of the time. If you're lucky, you're hosting a main stage for half the fkn day :D

Is this what everyone is into now?

I realize PD represents a very small segment of society... but I don't vibe with almost ANY of the music tastes here. It makes me feel alone sometimes, like if I was ever able to find a good psychedelic community in real life, they'd just wana bump electronic edm type stuff... psytrance... whatever they call it these days. I feel so old sometimes, when I know I'm younger than many of the people on here who rave about the electronica.

i used to be into hardstyle, when i was about 17
i cant do hardstyle or hardcore anymoar mane, i lol when i hear it
it just seems like such juvenile music to me, like dnb is so much more sophisticated if you ask me (aside from jumpup)
like when i think hardstyle now this is what i see

notice they are hanging out drinkign under a bridge IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY (get jobs, grouch)
that and the one comment made me almost fall out of my chair
"when the school shooting goes as planned"
like when i think back to when i was 17 and i was srs into hardstyle i just facepalm
that and you cant really rap over hardstyle
like you can dnb

I'd take the hardstyle in that cybergoth vid over that dnb or whatever rapper you posted any day, call me juvenile and unsophisticated (no idea where you got that from hahah) :|

the shooting comment had me loling hard too though ahahah!

I'm not into EDM at all. I predominantly listen to doom metal, Primus, and Pink Floyd. I have a hard time digging music that doesn't have a string instrument in it somewhere.

i got the whole hardstyle is juvenile and unsophisticated idea from listening to nothing but hardstyle for a year, and going to see angerfist and seeing what kind of people are into hardstyle (HINT: parachute pants, all black clothes, men wearing eyeliner)
i'm good, i prefer to listen to music that isn't mostly listened to by people who look like they cut themselves.
everyday junglist massive mane
for reals, i wanna get a tattoo that says everyday junglist.
evidence for my claim of hardstyle being immature compared to dnb
right in dnb you got mofos like goldie, or LTJ bukem, putting otu real mellow, intelligent sounding stuff (ex. LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression vol 1, Goldie's Timeless....classics)
but then you got mofos who just straight GO HAM (ex. Bad Company, Dom and Roland, Tech Itch, old Dieselboy)
and then you got just funny party stuff (ex. TC, Original Sin, Hazard, Taxman)
there is no "intelligent" hardstyle the way there is with dnb
