^Wasn't it California?

edit: Speaking of this, finally there is some movement in Australia (Victoria at least) towards legalising cannabis for medical use. There is a long way to go before it is inevitably fully legal, but this is a step in the right direction. The gov't is going to commence trials shortly. I was actually able to obtain a quarter ounce of the strains that is being trialled, a really nice frosted Indica. I really hope they do use this in the trial because it was devoid of any of the negative side-effects sometimes found with cannabis; no paranoia or anxiety, no excessive sleepiness or stupid-head feels. It made me feel relaxed and hungry, and mighty stoned to boot.

Hyper drug-conservative Australia is insane. I was watching a news report on the spate of 16 hospitalisations recently relate to NBOME drugs (the Zombie drug as some pundits termed it). In it, some eminent scienctists were testing it for the 'highly dangerous' drug, tryptamine. You guys know that drug right? Its the one you inject, along with AIDS and orange juice, into your urethra and ear drum.

Wasn't Lennon abusive to women though ^ ?

Unforunately, he was. But he acknowledged it. Not that it makes a difference to the actuality of his behaviour, but he admitted he was flawed and didn't try to hide these flaws- all that much, at least. He apparently shouted in his son's ear when he was very young loud enough to damage it. A very troubled man, but I admire his music and his idea's. And his honesty. Not his violence though.

'I am a violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence.'- John Lennon.

My hero worship is a bit lame and not as powerful as when I was a younger man, but I get chills when I realise that I have John's reincarnated soul inside me.

John Lennon also beat the Beatles' old bass player (I think it was bass player) to death in an argument before they got their final lineup and got big. He beat him into a coma and he died later. He was never charged.

I also love the guy. A pretty violent past but he seemed to have been able to rise above that later in life. And his music and message were wonderful.

Whilst he did beat the shit out of him (kicking him in the head) Stewart Sutcliffe was also in another big brawl prior to that where he was attacked by a group of rockers. Lennon stepped in I believe. Its Sutcliffe's sister that has spread this idea; there may be some merit in it, but its by no means a given or widely accepted.

You better watch it Xorkoth, you malign Lennon again and your band might need a new keyboardist :D :| ;) <3

(I love you xorkoth!)

Ah I see. That's what I get for repeating stuff someone told me without looking into it deeper.

I'm such an IDIOT!! :!:!:!:!:!

(That's an inside joke at least one person on here will get)

I have studied and emulated John Lennon for many years. Do not doubt my incredibly vast and comprehensive knowledge ever again.

I want to get inside your joke Xorkoth, really deep in that baby...:\ wtf.

Fuck, it is only almost 8.00am and I am sitting here sweating like some kind of insane guy. I don't get it, I get such huge anxiety that manifests as manic good cheer, I feel so overstimulated by life sometimes. Miss Swilow finds it quite unsettling when I descend into this odd hugely anxious spiral, its strange that she can see me sweating and showing signs that I am under stress and yet all I am doing is sitting on my computer. I don't feel bad or negative, just much to revved up. I should solve this dilemma with drugs I guess, but I don't want to...yet.

I agree with Xorkoth/Kaleida/Whitefox. I think Trump as a president won't change things significantly, but I found the fact that so many people over there are willing to support the kind of hate-speech he is spreading honestly terrifying.

That trump blotter art is hilarious, though.

I'll consider it, though I'm hoping for something more in the area of like legal cannabis and smart shops for now lol. I would love to see South America some day though!

In Uruguay, for instance, Cannabis is legal. Argentina has very lax legislation about it. In Chile there's a legal gap about growing Cannabis, because "personal amounts" are not prosecuted by law, only traffic is penalized. I've been in places in Bolivia rural and remote enough that don't really have police, and people grow marijuana pretty openly in important quantities. So the situation is cool for weed. The downside is that the typical strains here are of significantly lower quality than the ones available in the US, but if you buy your own seeds, which is also not prosecuted by law in most countries here, that becomes a non issue.

No headshops though, and RC's are mostly unheard of, but in my experience importing stuff that's a plus ???.

The fact that Trump has created a "movement" and organized the forgotten working class White man is actually the thing that I rejoice in most, and a few days ago was posting in a few threads that it excited me even though I thought he'd lose. These are people who have been fucked over again and again and ignored and seen their standard of living degenerate and their values attacked and felt as if they (we — although I'm technically speaking no longer "working/lower middle class," but these are my origins, patrii sanguis patria*) and we're mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore. Bravo.

* a tattoo I fairly recently got. "The blood of my fathers is my fatherland," roughly translated.

It's this thing I do where I purposely exaggerate a reaction to comic effect. Someone reveals to me that I'm wrong and I go incredibly overboard, screaming out my idiocy as loudly as possible and possibly slamming my fists against my face. It makes one of my good friends crack up every time so now it's an inside joke.

Is that deep enough in for you? ;)

I can appreciate the working class rising up against oppression, but I don't support that being done via oppression (ie, let's deport all the Mexicans and kill all the Muslims). The Republican party seems to have been working at turning working class frustrations away from the establishment and towards scapegoats like racism and homophobia and gay marriage for years now and Trump just coopted that and worked it up into an even bigger frenzy. Being a bigot isn't going to solve your problems.

I'm not certain Trump is totally for all that though which leaves me totally clueless as to how his presidency will actually look.

All in all, being swept away in fear is exactly what we shouldn't be doing.

Seems to be another night that calls for a spliff or two. The last 24 hours I have felt the cry of millions of empaths who are afraid, confused, or not sure what to feel that it is causing a disturbance in the force.
I agree, we should not be in fear, and at least not worry until the man gets a chance at actually wielding the power. However, it is hard given what he has said in the past (and his business track record) but hey, everyone learns from past mistakes, right?

Congrats to SKL and his cothinkers, this is a big step for you, though this election cycle has been bountiful for my kind as well, in both the recruitment and prognostication departments.

Still, 'twas a surprising result, and I can't help but feel like this.

On a brighter note, might start a closet grow, heck, it's legal now. =D

I would take a look at his transition team and who he is considering for the cabinet.

Hope y'all are doing well. <3

Rocko's Modern Life?

I think its from another cartoon though.

^Apparently he has a thing for self-flagellation. Me too.

This song is very nice, nice gradual climax. Gives me good memory things-

I agree with this. It's one thing the working class rising up, but I cannot see Trump helping their situation. The way I read it, Trump will be effectively captured by the dominant Republicans on Capitol Hill as he has no ideology of his own other than seeking an easy group to blame (hence allusions to fascism).

He will not be able to deliver a better life to the working class by following Reublican ideology as it has not changed since the days of Reagan and I don't recall the Reagan years being particularly good for the working class.

We are a few months further down the same road (makes a change for the UK to lead for once!). The next step you will see over there is when it becomes clear that the simple answers have not solved the problem then the focus moves to the 'enemy within'. Think Bush with his 'if you're not with us then you're against us statement'.

Here in the UK the reason why voting to lave the EU has nit led to instant utopia is not because impossible promises were made; rather it is because the 48% who voted to Remain are not working together towards the utopian future. Therefore we are part of the problem and have joined immigrants being vilified in the press. Watch out for phrases such as 'anti-democratic' and 'unpatriotic' if you dare to question the direction in which the country is being taken.

There was even a front page spread on the front of two popular tabloids here last month 'damn in the moaning remainers' and (albeit slightly jokingly but it's a slippery slope) calling for MPs who oppose leaving the EU to be locked in the Tower of London.

Such rampant nationalism is ugly and serves only those in power. It's incredibly divisive and empowers domestic extremists. The working class of America will gain nothing from this once they get past the triumphalism of giving the establishment a bloody nose.

This is what happens when a nation spends the better part of a century actively suppressing the class consciousness of its citizenry. White working class voters know they're being exploited and screwed over by the neoliberal policies of 'establishment' politics, but they've been systematically scared away from socialist thought, leaving them wide open to have their fears and concerns exploited by a populist demagogue like Trump.

I hate to say 'I told you so' to my liberal friends and family after they dismissively blew off my warnings that Hillary Clinton was a fucking terrible candidate to nominate against Trump, and pretty much the only nationally viable Democrat who had a significant chance of losing to him - but I fucking told them so. Repeatedly. If there's a silver lining to this national disaster of an election, it's that maybe, just maybe, the Democratic Party has another chance in 2020 to embrace actual leftism instead of this watered down neoliberal Clintonian "third way" bullshit. Conventional political wisdom in this country has never been more divorced from reality. Running to the center is no longer the answer. The Democrats need to grow a fucking backbone and advocate for real progressive change from the status quo, not to try and convince voters that the status quo isn't so bad and just needs some slight reforms to help those who legitimately feel left behind by the Obama recovery. I'll never forgive Hillary for her deplorable, despicable political calculus in the primary season, when she started spouting off objectively false and thoroughly debunked right wing talking points against single payer health care, and turned against her own party's paid family leave bill because it would have required something like $5/month in tax increases on the middle class. Oh, and thanks to her aggressive advocacy of fracking during her tenure as Sec. State, there's an argument to be made that she is personally responsible for more total carbon emissions than any other human being on the planet. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

On a happier note, I have a first date tomorrow with this amazing girl I met on OKC. My last OKC first date didn't go so well (nothing dramatic, just a meh conversation that kind of petered out toward the end, date ended with a hug and the usual exchange of "I had a good time" texts but I got ghosted when I asked for a second date), and before that I hadn't been on a date in years, so I don't have much confidence in my first date game right now. I've also never been this into someone before even meeting them in person, so I really really want this to go well. I'm probably gonna spend most of the day before this date brainstorming things to talk about and good answers to common first date questions, so I can go into it with some confidence that I'll at least be able to keep the conversation going. We're meeting at a coffee shop, and there are some nice greenbelty areas with walking trails nearby. I figure we'll chat over coffee for an hour or so, and assuming things are going well I'll suggest going for a walk to keep the date going and avoid boring her by sitting at a table for hours on end. I'm demisexual, so I'm not really comfortable trying to be forward in a sexual way, so I figure that seeing whether she lets me hold her hand during our walk will serve as a good indicator of whether she's into me or not (I feel kinda corny saying this, but I'm a sucker for hand holding as a gesture of affection. I want to hold the shit out of this girl's hand!). Whether or not we hold hands will also probably be my litmus test for whether I try to go for a goodnight kiss or not. I'm overthinking the hell out of this, aren't I? :P Anyway, wish me luck! Lord knows I need it.

Good luck Solistus!
And you are right. The neo-liberal consensus is in its death throes across the world and this is reflected in the draining of support from the centre.
The answer is a true new direction, not a combination of neo-fascism and neo-liberalism. It is up to those opposed to far-right policies to come up with a genuine and credible alternative.
