My good friend's girlfriend just moved to town, and she has 2 kids (boys, ages 6 and 8 ). She was living with her babysitter for a few weeks, thought she had a sweet deal, paying (it turns out) the majority of the rent for her (like $700 for one room when the total rent for the house is $1200 and the rest is split between 2 people so only $250 each, but she didn't realize that at the time). She has very little money and she had a week where she didn't have a job, when switching jobs, and asked her babysitter if she could take a little less money for one week (she was also, of course, paying the babysitter, like $200 a week when this girl doesn't work, she and her housemate mostly survive by renting out their extra room and charging people the majority of the entire rent and then doing odd jobs), and the babysitter was like, hell no, and you need to get out, I can't believe you'd even ask that. This is one of those "I'm sooooo spiritual, liek, so much more spiritual than you, look at all my crystals, that's how you can tell" types. So she had to move really quickly. We've been helping her with the move, and she found a new babysitter, but today she had no one and it's her first day on her new job so she can't call out obviously. So.... being that I work at home, I volunteered to watch them at my house, from 8:30 to 4:30, while I work. My girl is here, which is helping. Mostly they're playing a Pokemon game on their computer, and telling me every thought (seemingly) that pops into their heads. I occasionally reply. Gonna make them lunch later. They're competing with each other to see who I think is the coolest, I think. They seem pretty starved for male attention (their dad is in jail). She brought them to the music festival I went to recently (she went too obviously), so I have spent time with them and know them somewhat. It's gonna be an interesting day. :D
