New Walking Dead tonight. I hope this part of the season has a little more action than last.

yeah just finished watching it, hilarious when hammond and jezza are shooting this car chase for some movie called The Sweeney.
and james gets to test a car from his favorite place in the world

Just got back from Vegas. Had fun, lost money (of course). My wife tried mxe for the first time there and had a great time. We took mxe at a Gaslamp Killer show, and had a blast. I took ethylone one night, but alcohol overpowered most of it (it was vegas after all). We spent most of our time in downtown, although we did go to the strip and see a couple of shows.

If I am drinking whisky (which is quite often) it is bourbon. I love the sweet hints of vanilla and sugars from the barrels.

I love bourbon too. I usually only drink it when down south though; it's expensive up here. The price of a 26er of Maker's Mark will get you and 60 of it down there.

In terms of taste I like all whiskies; Kentucky bourbon and Canadian Rye are my two favorites. My parents like scotch and I find it okay but I prefer other whiskies.

Thing with whisky is hangover. It's good for taste, bad to get drunk on. Vodka may not taste like much, but the hangover isn't that bad.

About barrels; all whiskies come from barells; that's what gives the colour. When the liquor comes fromt he 'still it's clear. Only after aging in barrels does it darken and become whisky whichever kind it is. The initial mash is the key difference I think. Oak barells seem to be the standard wood of choice

Oh I do, I do ;)

Been clean and stuff for ages but tonight got a fuckin skinfull of my beloved pv

No PV for me but I got into some ethylphenidate (you'd swear it's just like cocaine). Got a lot of work done while listening to some good tunes. Now I'm benzoed and it's time for bed.. ta :)

Bourbon must be aged in brand new charred-oak barrels. Other whiskies do not have this requirement. Scotch is usually aged in old bourbon barrels imported from the US. Because most of the flavors and woods sugars from the barrel go into the Bourbon, Scotch lacks that sweet taste and is lighter in color. It has more of a smokey taste to it. I drank some Maker's last night, buddy got me one for my birthday coming up. Have a bottle of Woodford Reserve right now too.

So I'm reading Steppenwolf, pretty damn good so far. Still adjusting to sobriety.

Love Herman Hesse.

I think my favorites are Demian, Narcissus and Goldmund, and Siddhartha...followed closely by Steppenwolf. If you like that one, don't stop there.

I've heard good things about Journey to the East, but I've only ready Siddhartha. A number of his books have been on my list for a while.

How is Steppenwolf? I vaguely remember reading about some of its themes: tension between analytic, intellectual and eastern-type 'feminine' holistic worldviews? That's probably grossly oversimplified.
