My psychiatrist, a very caring but grossly misinformed lady, actually became
incensed when I told her about my use of xanax in the past. Not because I had used xanax, but because I had
stopped using xanax. She was like "you shouldn't EVER stop taking xanax! That would be like a diabetic discontinuing their insulin!"
I was flabbergasted by such a response. Never in a million years would I expect a medical professional to say that.
Not to mention that all I had to do to walk out with 3 scripts, for Xanax, Vyvanse, and Adderall, was go into the office and fill out a computerized questionnaire. It asked me nothing about my symptoms. It only told me to enter my insurance information and also to check the box beside the condition(s) I'm 'suffering from'.
I checked the "ADHD" and "Panic Disorder" boxes.
An hour later I was picking my scripts up from the pharmacy...
Big Pharma has shit on lock down here, especially in Texas. The MHMR board down here is a bunch of crooked bribe-taking ogres that live in the pockets of big pharma.
Its still the wild west out here, in many different ways, no doubt about it.
