another perfect example of when the like button would be used. in this case it would be acknowledging the reference to zombie kid. it would let them know that i get what they are talking about.


psooodonym, it would only circumstantially be used instead of providing a post with more information or discussion, if used as in the above method for example, or in other scenarios that are fit.
in the same way you dont explain a joke you use the like button.

using it in a social forum compared to say something in ADD would be almost like two completely different buttons. in ADD im sure it would serve a number of purposes; giving merrit to a post that provided usefull information, to come to a collective consensus on things that people genuinly like (for instance someone posts "drugs" and a million people click "like"), or even to gauge the "liker's" sense of humor (for instance liking a witty response, joke, or pun pertaining to the topic)*

*it is also to be noted that in this case you would not delve into further discussion and the like would simpily be left as just that.

see, the like button is just as much a commentary (moreso even) on the clicker of the like button as it is on the comment being liked.

^^^ Reminds me of a Mullah Nasrudin parable:

The Sultan was told by his teacher that lying was a great crime and should be banned. So the Sultan ordered his executioner to the city gate and told him to ask each person entering the city why he was visiting and execute any who lied. Next morning the Mullah stood in line to go to the market in the city. The executioner asked him on the penalty of death, "Why are you entering the city?" The Mullah replied, "I am going to be executed!"

I love it, took my small sleep deprived mind a while to get round it but that's brilliant. Ha ha, answer that executioner, in your face =D

The Mullah then walked round the city with an aura of smug.

This is a silly question but I genuinely don't know the answer being a UK'er who hasn't taken MDMA: Why is it that being on MDMA is referred to as rolling? Is it saying 'eye's rolling into the back of my head'?
