Hello blulighters, i have been IV'ing oxys for about three weeks, around 100mgs a day. I am stopping tomorrow and this is my withdrawl plan:

Five 25mcg fent patches (using only one every three days), clonidine, buscupan, and zyprexa for sleep. Is this enough to help with the withdrawals for the oxy?

Basically will fent patches assist in easing the withdrawals?

Fentanyl will prolong the inevitable withdrawal, as, it's even more potent than oxy. Use a low dose of codeine and taper off that if anything. If it's too rough, go to your GP and see what they can do for you.

What makes you say that? Hell, a 25mgc patch wont even touch the sides of a 100mg a day oxy habit. Using the fentanyl patch will make withdrawls less intense, longer sure - but more manageable.

If you've got em' use away. I shudder at the thought of getting off that much cold turkey.

Might be best starting with two patches on, moving to one after 3 days. Half the next 3 days, etc.

You can cut the patches in half, providing they're not the gel ones (dont think they make them in aus anymore?). Ounce cut in half I've used whats labeled as "opsite flexigrid" translucent sticky things designed to go over dressings/patches, keeps it on there nicely. Having tapered off fentanyl patches before I can say the withdrawls dont seem as rough as coming off oxy. Personal opinion though.

I know it's not in the same range as the 100mg oxy habit, i never said it was. It's a strong opi and no matter what the OP does, they will eventually have to go through withdrawal to some extent. I'm not trying to say that that amount of fentanyl is in anyway comparable to the former oxy habit. All I'm saying is that it is a strong opiate and swapping one opi for another, even though it is a taper dose, will still end up in dope sickness at the end of the tunnel albeit less than cold tukey from the 100mg a day oxy habit.

For that reason I suggested a weaker alternative to try and lower the inevitable withdrawal effects.

^ Thats cool. I still think that patches are a far better option if you've got them. Keeps you somewhat content all day rather than the up-down ness you'd get when tapering with CWE's, which is closer to 'normality'. Also cant do a CWE at work ;)

In the end it's swapping one drug for another. Whether you taper on fent or codeine or even just a very low dose of the oxy, which was the original culprit, you will still have to go through withdrawal to some extent. You could easily do a CWE and take it to work in a bottle so that's not a big issue.

The worst will be over in 72hrs if going cold turkey so maybe just suck it up if you can spare the few days out of action.

All the best strangetime. I hope you can get on top of your habit and stay on top of it.

Being addicted to strong opiates in the past like oxys, morphine, codeine and hydromorphone on a daily basis Id have to say that just sticking to codeine is the best option, It worked for me. I havnt touched any opiates except codeine for almost 7 months now. Stopped using codeine 8 days ago and switched to Kava to help me get off that. I find that buds will kill a lot of ur withdrawal symptoms. Helped me thats for sure:)

Thanks heaps dudes. I think I am well prepared for the inner storm that is coming! I gotta get off this shit, no more excuses. I want my life back.

Can I just use pan forte for withdrawals? Would that help? How long until the worst stage of withdrawal stops?

Yup, I've used codeine to taper off opiate binges of various length with great success, if you had a higher tolerance it might be an issue, but at 100mg a day you should be fine.

My arsenal!

This is my arsenal to combat withdrawals: 20 panadeine forts, 10 10mgs oxy tabs, 5 25mcg fentanyl patches, zyprexa (for sleep), lyrica, some ritalin for energy, phenergan, buscopan, Clonidine and a full pack of ciggys!

I think this is adequate to alleviate the withdrawals. I am still terrified though. Hopefully this will be my final binge.

I doub't you'll be able to alleviate withdrawals with that, but hopefully you can. If this is the first binge on opiates you've had, the withdrawals might not be so bad.
Make sure you do a cwe on your panadeine forte, it'd be useful also as others have mentioned to get some over the counter codeine as well. The important thing is to stick to your taper but it is hard, because if what you have still has you feeling sick it's going to be very tempting to go score.

Yeah 100-150mg a day codeine as a taper off strategy is pretty effective. Especially if you can get hold of some valium.

Youd be surprised how much valium can ease the pain of codeine withdrawal.

I doubt 100-150mg of codeine would even hit the sides of a 100mg a day oxy habit. At this stage the OP could prob do a ceiling dose of codeine and still feel sick. Not meaning to be a downer, just realistic.

Yeah youre probably right.

I just know from past experience when Im really hurting from a hardcore codeine habit and Im trying to taper off with a strategy that includes every other day completely codeine free, waking up and just feeling like death with sweats, leg aches, stomach aches, the inability to get comfortable etc etc, then even taking 5n+ (ie 60mg codeine) then jumping in the shower can do wonders for my ability to get out and deal with the day. And this is coming off pretty sizeable daily codeine habit.

I just figured 150-200mg combined with some diazepam could be a good place to start anyway. Cant stress enough how help valium was for me personally.

edit: thinking more on it.... youre probably right. The only experience Ive had with oxy was when I was lucky enough to acquire 2 boxes of endone last year. 4-5 tablets put me in a real good fucking place and they were only 5mgs... plus I had a codeine tolerance at the time. So 100mg a oxy habit. Shit Im guessing I have no idea how hard that would be to taper off.

Sorry brother. Ill say it again though.... valium.

^ What dose codeine daily are/where you trying to come off? I'm interested, seeing as five N+ helped you out. I have a tolerance of around 2.6g

Also, had to remove a certain section of your post, I'm sure you know why. :)

I guess daily use of 400-600mg.

Maybe it was just placebo but 60mg just took the edge off it and allowed me to lay in bed without tossing/turning and feeling like I couldnt possibly face leaving the house.

Edit yeah np re: editing the post. Didnt think it would be a problem since it was just a suggestion with no mention of sources or anything. All cool.

Nah, at that level even 60mg of codeine would definitely take the edge off.
