oxycontin comedown

Day two

Well I am on my second day of oxy withdrawals. I have been wearing two 25mcg fent patches to smooth the sharp edges. It has worked wonders, I can sleep and eat and socialise. I will start tapering the patches now from 25mcg, 12.5mcg then stop. Fuck the oxys, I will never go back. I am just glad I had a relatively short oxy binge. I just can't imagine coming off these if the person has been on them for years, makes my skin crawl!

I am just a little concerned how I will be once i remove the patches. Anyone know what I might expect? I feel it will be somewhat uncomfortable, but nothing really bad.

Another thing, I start on Suboxone next week and am looking forward to that. Hopefully that will stabilise me.

How come you're starting suboxone next week if you're planning to stop opiates before that? Or have I read it wrong? If you can get through withdrawals it may be better for you not to use a maintenance opiate at all, because eventually the idea is to withdraw/cut down on that and it seems you'd just be prolonging your dependence on opiates.

Like footsy said, what's the point of the sub if you are clean? You will just have go through the WD again eventually.

Probably being uncomfortable, cravings for sure which you need to make sure you deal with. Anxiety and maybe mild physical symptoms. We can help you out with that too though. :)

I've found subs are great to use for a quick taper after a binge/habit, they really make the first few days of withdrawal much more tolerable than quitting cold turkey.

As mentioned above though, getting completely off opiates, then going onto buprenorphine seems counter productive.

This might sound stupid when were talking such a significant opiate habit (100mg oxy per day) but what about poppy seed tea combined with codeine cwe of around 400-600mg? On your off days between codeine (because it can be a bitch having to hit a bunch of chems) just have the poppy seed tea.

Ive been combining my codeine sessions of late with 720mg poppy seed tea (basically 3 of the 240g plastic hoyts containers from Coles). I have found it to add to the experience. Anyway, I have noticed that days when I go without I have been feeling a shit load worse than usual, and it occurred to me that the poppy seed tea (PST) was the blame for this. So in-between codeine sessions (ie. a few days) I would have some poppy tea and it worked wonders for the withdrawals. Now its possible this is only because I had developed a small addiction to the multitude of alkaloids in the tea. But I do remember when I first discovered PST that I experimented with it as a method to diminish the codeine withdrawals I was feeling between codeine days and it seemed to work. I should point out though that I did combine the PST on these occasions with some diazepam.

Anyway, just a suggestion. Flame away if the notion of being able to reduce OXY withdrawals with PST is entirely absurd:p I can take it:\

Good to hear the patches are working for you!

No point with the suboxone really, your already well on the road to getting clean - no need to effectively re-addict yourself ;) Seeing as your already well stocked with goodies to taper with, getting subs really would be counter productive.

That taper plan sounds suitable. But really just keep on lowering it as much as you can (ie. half patches) until they run out, by which point your dependance should be lowered enough to make the adjustment fairly bareable. I've personally jumped off a stable dependance on 12mcg fentanyl patches cold turkey with no major issues. Was a walk in the park compared to initially tapering off ~60mg oxy a day. That sucked..

Expect normal type withdrawl symptoms, I'm sure you know what they include. But hopefully not severe and you can still manage day to day life fairly easily.
