Q: Can the new Oxy OP's be 100% dissolved for oral ROA, but still be extended release?
"Tom" crushes an 80mg OP, mixes a packet of "Emergen-C" w/ 2-3 oz's of warm water, then mixes the OP powder into the Emergen-C / H20 solution. W/in 1 hour, ALL of the Oxy OP particles are dissolved and Tom seemingly has bypassed the time release mechanism of the OP pills....
BUT, Tom recently has been taking 90mg's of IR oxycodone ( Three 30mg Roxi's per dose) and has noticed a HUGE difference in effects between the Roxi's and the OP's. (He has accounted for the 90mg v. 80mg difference, the amount and type of food previously ingested, he ONLY swallows his doses, and has considered all (or maybe not all?) relevant variables)
The IR Roxi's give him the classic euphoric, energetic oxy buzz while the OP's produce significantly more sedation and are not nearly as euphoric.
WHY IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE???
Assuming all other variables are equal, the only answer Tom and I can think of, is that the Oxy OP's are still being time released despite the fact that the pills are completely dissolved and in solution when consumed....
