I tried it with little success. However many do - With medications it seems they work different for everyone.
I now use either Remron or Zyprexa for my sleep.
They seem to be much more powerful, sedating and longer lasting imo - Perfect for ppl with severe insomnia or people who get up multiple times in the night.
Maybe for people with mild and or occasional insomnia Trazadone might be better. This is what i found anyways.
For me Trazadone would have a very short sedation window before i was back to feeling awake and not sedated. So i had to fall asleep in that sedation window.
I found with Remron and Zyprexa i could take it, stay up for 2-3 hours and still be feeling sedated (and able to sleep). This wasn't the case for me with Trazadone though. The sedation effect would be gone in less than an hour for me :/ Probably why Trazadone helped me sleep but didnt stop me from getting up multiple times in the night.
I believe trazadone has a shorter half life . Just double check to confirm. But that could explain why trazadone would only assist me in getting to sleep but not staying asleep like Remron & Zyprexa have done.
Another downside i felt with Trazadone was that i felt it killed my memory. And the next day i wouldn't feel like myself and id feel kinda out of it and socially retarded. Remron and Zyprexa dont do this nearly as much if at all.
Imo best sleep med for me is Remron.
Theres the Z drugs too but i found they also killed my memory (as they work more like benzos than any other sleep med) and tolerance would build to them incredibly fast.
& Benzos - But also kills my memory (benzos are notorious for doing this), they interfere with sleep quality moreso compared to the other meds. Not to mention addiction. You will probably end up taking benzos in the day too lol and before you know it... Im sure you get the story.
Theres also seroquel. Which i found worked great for sleep but that can fuck up your liver and enzymes long term. Its also an antipsychotic moreso than a sleep aid aswell.
Each to their own though with the meds i think. Thats my 2 cence on the sleep meds I've tried incl trazadone though.
