Opiates + Sleeping

Strangely, oxy lets me go right into a restful, wonderful sleep about 10 minutes after getting settled in bed. Hydro is the one that I can't sleep on. I toss and turn and end up watching TV for 2 hours before going to bed. That is why I asked my doctor for percocet instead of hydrocodone after my surgery. I got lucky and he prescribed me 90 and taking them 4 times a day. I take them twice a day, if that. I might take Hydro in the morning for the pain, and because it seems to act like coffee to me, but I always take my evening percs, I like not having to watch infomercials for 2 hours. Tramadol has no effect on my sleep patterns at all. I'll lay in bed for 30 mins then go to sleep. This is normal and its how I went to sleep prior to surgery. Some opiates just act different. /shrug

oxy- and hydrocodone are uncomfortably stimulating to me plus oxy makes me meaner than hell.
demerol in high doses is the same but in lower doses it's sedating. i've also had patients in icu get extremely agitated and hallucinate from high doses of demerol.
dilaudid and heroin almost always gave me a few hours of beautiful dreamy sleep...
*sigh*

Oh, I loved Dilaudid when I was in the hospital after having an ovary removed. I was really pissed when they removed the drip from my IV. I even asked if they could let me keep it for just one more day (the answer was no of course).

Oxy and hydro make you "uncomfortably" stimulated? That's something I never thought I'd hear. They may be more stimulating than other narcotics but definitely not uncomfortable. Tramadol does that for me. Tramadol keeps me stimulated in a bad way, like I'm taking an antidepressant.

Hmm, I have noticed this also. If I'm alone, chilling out, fine. But if there's anyone around they annoy the hell out of me. Lol. The first hour (after come up) or two are fine, but I then get irritated by little things. Wonder why this is.

Tyrael, I have the same issue! Hydro and oxy, no matter the dosage or how chilled out I am, people annoy me after the first 2 hours or so. Not just people. I just about wanted to strangle my dogs today after taking my perc this morning. They kept barking and wouldn't shut the hell up. Normally, it doesn't bother me. They're small yappy dogs, I expect it. But when I'm on oxy, they better watch out. I'm not afraid to yell at em.

I can get very angry at people to after taking oxycodone, mostly when people are trying to get me to do something I don't want to, bothering me or something I don't want to hear. I just want to be left alone most of the time or with someone real chill like my girlfriend. I don't like to be bothered.
