Wat up yall, I got a lil survey here to ask somethin that I am tryin to learn about related to OD's and 911 calls. Alot of ppl do not call 911 when a friend Ods becuz they afraid of gettin arrested or gettin into trouble and this allows alot of ppl to die who could have easily been saved with a shot of narcan. in some places there is laws protecting ppl who call so that they dont get prosecuted, but other places the caller as well as the OD victim can get arrested for drug possession, or other drug related shit, even tho it should be between the ambulance and the victim and not have cops involved. even tho if youre smart youll hide the drugs before the cops show up, not everyone thinks quick on their feet like that and some people panic so much (especially in the places where u can get convicted of manslaughter if u gave the person the dope that they OD'd on) that they just bounce and leave the person to die, or at best drop them off in front of the ER and drive away.

Anyways, Im interested to see wat everybodys experiences has been with this, if anyone has ever NOT callled a ambulance cause of being afraid of gettin in trouble, if you have ever been a OD victim and your friends didnt call for you, or if you have called in the past or have had someone call for you when it was you that was ODing.

So If you can , answer the survey the best way you know how, If you have been in more than one of the situations then answer each one that you have been in but please make a post saying that so that we know that more than one vote came from one person and can remember that when lookin at the results.

Anyways, i dont think I need to say that this only applies for overdose situations and not just any drug related problem like someone freakin out on acid , etc. The point of this poll is to get information about opiate overdoses that could be reversed with Narcan, but people end up dying or gettin serious medical damage becuz their friends are too afriad to get help for them. Also, this applies to OVERDOSES, where a person stops breathing, turns blue, is unconscious, etc, where medical help is definately needed. obviously we have all nodded out pretty hard at some point and no one called 911 becuz no one was layin there unconscious so dont count a situation like that, just a clear cut OD. Even tho it can never hurt to be cautious, if you are really worried of someones health you should call 911 if you think it would do more harm not to, but in reality most of us will avoid it like the plague til it is obvious that the person aint gonna come back on their own. And in places where there aint a law to protect the witnesses, ppl will do everything BUT call until it might be too late. If there was no threat of legal trouble we could call any time that help was needed without fear and many ppl could avoid OD deaths.

had a "friend" more like friends because i had a car and used, and he would need rides to dealers with me. OD on me. found out later that he had taken 15mg of xanax without telling me and then i let him shoot a 5 banger in my room.

worst time ever trying to keep him alive, having the cops looking at everything in my room in plain sight

If someone ODs you def gotta either take them to hospital or call 911. If my roommates didn't take me to the hospital I would def be dead. I've OD'd before and they didn't call the cops, luckikly I came out of it. Anytime someone has OD'd on me I took em to ER.

If someone worrys so much about someone od'ing in their house either a. dont let people shoot up in the house, or b. take em outside of the house and then call the cops so they dont have to enter the house to take the friend. Or am i missing something here?

Honestly I don't know what I'd do. I'm not sure at what point I'd decide I was OD'ing. Would I wait until it was too late to make a decision? Perhaps...that's a scary thought. If someone else was OD'ing I'd surely call 911, however.

i have no problem letting people hit in my room. but when a person doesnt say they have a shit ton of benzos in their system and goes ahead and does a dose above what they should is a recipe for disaster.

i would have taken the person outside but instead i clean up their arm so blood wasnt squirting all over the place, and i wasnt thinking of dragging a body down 3 flights of stairs, im sure they would have been worse off by hitting their head on every step;)

also when i called 911 i made no mention of any kind of illegal activity, i said "i think he had a heart attack or something" as i read that on the what to do if a person ODS with you faq on bluelight, yet the police still showed up. guess it was a slow day.

lucky i thought enough about moving everything into another room, well all except 2 empty bags the person had on him that i didnt know was there. hes getting charged with a few things. hopefully nothing comes down on me. i think we might have a "good Sumatran" law could be wrong and get totally fucked

I'm only an occasional opiate user, and I don't usually do enough to risk overdosing... but I would definitely call emergency services if I did. In the past when I've overdosed on other drugs (like benzos), friends have phoned for an ambulance, and the cops never got involved.

I would definitely call an ambulance. I wouldn't try driving because I don't have a mobile ER in my backseat like an ambulance. I think anyone who is a good person would call 911. Just go hide your shit, give it to your cool neighbor, dig a hole, whatever. Save someone's life. I think most people have good deep in their heart and would do that instead of just letting someone die. Of course, I lost a friend in High School because he OD'ed (some people say on purpose) and nobody called the cops. They just let my friend fucking die there. THAT'S FUCKED UP.

also the person that OD in my story OD on me again a few days later. this time was after he hit in a gas station bathroom 5 mins later he noded out and wouldnt wake up save one little phrase "just let me die" lucky i was in the car with another person who took over driving my car, and i went in the back seat.

i think after learning on what to do from the 911 call the first time really helped. in fact i think everyone should learn simple things like checking pulse, making sure airways clear, etc it can really come in handy esp if know you will most likely get pulled over for being white so just being able to get the person to a safe place before calling would be needed.

in short if you bang your DOC, or hang with a crowd that does, learn some simple things like CPR, checking for a pulse, that kind of stuff it can really be helpful not only to you but im sure the other person.

I've called an ambulance twice when I or the others I was with were unable to revive the OD'd person. One time I called , gave the address and left immediately, the other time I waited and I think the cops would have let me go except I had a warrant so they arrested me.

A guy I used to get high with a lot always said he would dump anyone outta his car and leave them if they od'd on him. I never heard of him actually doing it to anyone but I always thought it was fucked up. I think everyone else we used with would have tried to revive him or called an ambulance if he OD'd..

But you never fucking know

i'm waiting for OD'er to turn blue and stiff, so i can rifle through his/her pockets for any remaining dope or cash- the few people i get high with know how i feel about greed and dope together (don't be a glutton!!)- but if its someone i know who's taken their usual dose and got a bad or super-potent bag , then hell yes i'm callin 911, fuck the police and the consequences of callin to save a life(damn it feels good just to type: fuck the police)

seems like ppl on bl is some good peoples but in general it aint so much like that I think....mad stories of ppl who just leave others to die. it makes sense that we got more morals tho cuz we on some educated shit here, alot of dopefeens be shady as fuck and dont got no knowledge like we do so they gonna be on a different type of thing than us u feel me?

also, if you aint been in this situation before as far as answerin the poll goes plz dont respond to the poll just post in the thread. becuz its easy to say wat you would do if u never been there, but once ur live and in charge, its a whole new story. so share ur opinion of how u would react but dont vote unless you actually been in any of those situations, I think the poll is worded clear enough that it is asking ppl about their actions in that situation but i guess some posters might think it is a hypothetical question like the thread title.

So what's been your experience Lacey? I'm sure you know what to do to try to revive the person but have you ever failed and called the paramedics? Or have you been lucky enough not to be confronted with that issue?

What about you, have you OD'd? If yes,did you need an ambulance?

i usually dial 911 as im trying to bring the person back, luckily both times it happened the person came to before the ambulance arrived.

both, i have called 911 for a friend when i could not revive him after like 15 minutes of tryin everything, and also had 911 called for me. i was lucky to be with someone who cared about me, cuz i can think of a few ppl that i have hung out with in the past that would not of done shit, I dont be around them anymore but it took that to make me realize how important the company u be around when u use is.

I just buried a friend on Wednesday who was only 21 yrs old because some of his so-called friends dropped him off at the entry to a hospital and left him to die and took off before anyone seen them. Now I've been there done that and if I could've been with my friend he'd still be alive cuz if I had to sit in jail that he could still live than so be it.

I had a friend who was selling dope for a while, and one of the guys he sold it to overdosed one day. They called an ambulance for him and my friend stuck around to make sure he was okay, probably because he had nothing on him and didn't think he would get in trouble. Turns out when the OD got to the hospital, they found a baggie in his pocket and went through his phone which had text messages between him and my friend talking about the deal. That's when the cops got involved and my friend actually got charged with distribution, and the OD got charged with possession.

I had a different friend who OD'd and went to the hospital, and nothing happened except he got a massive hospital bill because he didn't tell them about his health insurance, because he didn't want his parents to find out.

I OD'd at a "friend's" house he had some bomb ass dope and we was just bustin out fat lines (I snorted at this time) and I do a couple then hit a bong. Chillin for a bit then another line comes out, doing this is the last thing I remember. Woke up in the hospital, found out he had put me in my car and driven me around the block and parked my car in a school parking lot. Luckily some security guard saw me and called the cops. I didn't have anything on me at the time, but you bet they looked lol. Had to be resuscitated and narcan, which sucks btw.
