Wat up yall, I got a lil survey here to ask somethin that I am tryin to learn about related to OD's and 911 calls. Alot of ppl do not call 911 when a friend Ods becuz they afraid of gettin arrested or gettin into trouble and this allows alot of ppl to die who could have easily been saved with a shot of narcan. in some places there is laws protecting ppl who call so that they dont get prosecuted, but other places the caller as well as the OD victim can get arrested for drug possession, or other drug related shit, even tho it should be between the ambulance and the victim and not have cops involved. even tho if youre smart youll hide the drugs before the cops show up, not everyone thinks quick on their feet like that and some people panic so much (especially in the places where u can get convicted of manslaughter if u gave the person the dope that they OD'd on) that they just bounce and leave the person to die, or at best drop them off in front of the ER and drive away.
Anyways, Im interested to see wat everybodys experiences has been with this, if anyone has ever NOT callled a ambulance cause of being afraid of gettin in trouble, if you have ever been a OD victim and your friends didnt call for you, or if you have called in the past or have had someone call for you when it was you that was ODing.
So If you can , answer the survey the best way you know how, If you have been in more than one of the situations then answer each one that you have been in but please make a post saying that so that we know that more than one vote came from one person and can remember that when lookin at the results.
Anyways, i dont think I need to say that this only applies for overdose situations and not just any drug related problem like someone freakin out on acid , etc. The point of this poll is to get information about opiate overdoses that could be reversed with Narcan, but people end up dying or gettin serious medical damage becuz their friends are too afriad to get help for them. Also, this applies to OVERDOSES, where a person stops breathing, turns blue, is unconscious, etc, where medical help is definately needed. obviously we have all nodded out pretty hard at some point and no one called 911 becuz no one was layin there unconscious so dont count a situation like that, just a clear cut OD. Even tho it can never hurt to be cautious, if you are really worried of someones health you should call 911 if you think it would do more harm not to, but in reality most of us will avoid it like the plague til it is obvious that the person aint gonna come back on their own. And in places where there aint a law to protect the witnesses, ppl will do everything BUT call until it might be too late. If there was no threat of legal trouble we could call any time that help was needed without fear and many ppl could avoid OD deaths.
